South Area Housing Office

The Lambeth Council south area housing office is very hard to find as it’s in the middle of a housing estate and wasn’t on Google Maps until I added it.

Buzzer entry system with an intercom - they seemed reluctant to buzz me in even though I explained I was told to go there, gave her my address which is in the area the office covers, was very polite and had a reference number. Once inside had a comical Kafka-esque conversation during which I was told the same thing three times even though I only asked it once at the beginning and was at that point just asking her to look up my reference number and tell me if there were any updates. Before she reluctantly did, she said something about the computer not being on the wider system but eventually managed to find it. She actually seemed surprised when it worked. Would’ve been funny if it weren’t for the fact that I was locked out of my block of flats because a council sub-contractor had changed the code on the main door and not told anyone, not put up a sign or bothered to knock on any of the flats, which is a shame because we were in at the time.
