Surprisingly cool little museum! Neat displays and collections of objects, 'twas fun to get a sense of Lakeland life in bygone days.

Good museum. Very well thought out and is worth a visit. Takes about an hour to walk round.

Worth a visit when you have an hour or two to spare. Easily worth £5. Some interesting features. Very nice café by the art gallery. Homemade pork pie was a blast from the past. Local parking was a typical rip off, almost as much as the entrance fee. Same all over the lakes and a real off-putting cost.

A very worthwhile and interesting experience and a fascinating insight into how things were in and around the Lake District in days gone by.

Lovely little museum tucked away in Kendal. Well worth a visit especially the recreation of an old pharmacy.

We visited the Museum on the recommendation of The Tourist Information Centre and boy was that a good recommendation. Despite being small and affordable this was among the best in Britain (and we've visited all the London ones). The museum is a series of rooms which you can walk through and examine (without touching of course) the exhibits. Sound recordings add to the atmosphere and textual information boards give loads of interesting detail of life in The Lakes.
It was great and we really enjoyed it.
Lovely gift shop too and a little restaurant which was sadly very understaffed the day we visited but the chef did a sterling job of meeting customers needs. Well done him.

A lovely museum with quite a lot for children to explore. There are some rooms set out in period style and activity rooms also. We had fun with the timeline game in the curators room. As a resident of the area I enjoyed the focus on lakeland life. Well worth the entry price

This is a well thought-out, friendly little museum, that has exhibits on past Lakeland life and industry in sweet, well-labelled tableaux, and also a room on Arthur Ransome, which I was keen to see. It has also instilled a desire in me to visit the bobbin mill, from a fascinating video there. The staff are friendly, and if they can't answer a question, there is the facility to have it answer by email, which is so useful. It's definitely worth the entry fee, and rewards a careful look around.
