Just returned from a 3 night stay at the lakehouse, our third visit. Stunning surroundings, peaceful and idyllic. The lakehouse is amazing with it's hot tub, pizza oven and is beautifully furnished. Enjoyed relaxing with some excellent gin. Richard is a superb host, couldn't ask for more, very helpful, friendly and accommodating. This is our favourite location in the UK to go for a break. Can't recommend highly enough. Looking forward to returning in September.

My wife and I, along with our dog have just returned from the Lakehouse for our first wedding anniversary. We had planned on using it as a base to visit the surrounding area but loved it so much we hardly left! The setting is absolutely stunning, private and romantic. And our dog loved the freedom of the fields surrounding the house. Sitting on the terrace watching and listening to the wildlife on the lake, or sitting in the hot tub looking out over the surrounding countryside was idyllic. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Devon.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at the Lakehouse. My partner booked it as a surprise for us for my birthday (I had no idea where we were going). When we arrived, we were greeted by Richard who drove us down to the property. I was just in absolute awe. The first thing I saw as we headed down through a field and some trees was a hot tub. Then as we got closer I saw a secluded lake with a little jetty. Richard then walked us around the property and showed us how to work everything and after a short while left us to it.
We had such a relaxing time here and will heading back for another break soon. I am still in absolute shock and gratitude to my partner, Rob, as he had kept this quiet for months! Thankyou for the best birthday, for taking me somewhere stunningly beautiful and tranquil and for memories I will cherish forever

Just the most perfect hideaway! Idyllic in every way... the suclusion; the peace & tranquillity; the beauty; all the little touches including the lighting & music; the log fired hot tub under the stars; the lake (we swam, rowed, paddleboarded, drifted with our afternoon tea and just enjoyed being beside it); the fire pit and cooking our dinner over it; the sumptuous bed - I've never slept so well!; and of course the complimentary bottle of Lakehouse gin and hearing the delights and dangers of distilling your own! To Richard & family - thank you for creating and sharing this, your own family's, absolute gem of a place with others. Came across it by chance, looking for a place to stay in the area overnight, but booked 2 nights and next time think we'd rather stay for 3. Loved it!

Just on our way home from an absolutely brilliant stay for our minimoon. Richard, our host, was incredible - his hospitality well and truly made the trip and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. It was the perfect mix of peace, quiet, tranquility and fun once in a lifetime experiences. With a lake, hot tub, gorgeous walks, comfy bed, log fire, animals (if you want to say hello), delicious gin and pizza oven, what more could you want?

Easily the best staycation around. The host, Richard, could not have been more accommodating and welcoming if he tried! Inside the Lakehouse was pristine and the outside pizza oven was such a treat!! It rained a little on the second day of our stay but it didn’t dampen our spirits, oh and speaking of spirits… the Lakehouse Gin is delicious! The pizza oven area is sheltered so you can use it rain or shine and there’s a fire built in to the outside table which keeps you so warm! Not to mention the log fired hot tub - wow, wow, wow!! There is really nothing quite like kicking back, listening to the sounds of nature and watching the stars with a G&T in one hand and a slice of homemade pizza in the other. I will definitely book again!

We stayed here for our Anniversary and it was amazing. it really felt like your own private lodge. Richard the host was amazing really helpful but also allowed you to have your own space. We got a bottle of his own gin on arrival which was amazing. Lodge was clean when we arrived and had everything you could need, very easy to stay there and not leave!

The other reviews are bang on the money: the Lakehouse is a real hidden gem. It's in a lovely part of the country, accessible yet secluded and private, with a beautiful setting by a lake. Manages to be rustic yet very comfortable too, with all the mod cons - inside kitchen, outside kitchen, pizza oven, BBQ, coffee machine, ice machine(!), WiFi, log fires, hot tub, you name it. We visited for a couple of nights in the autumn and thoroughly enjoyed how snug and cosy it was, but I can imagine it must really come into its own in the summer. Bonus points for being dog friendly to a fault, and for how friendly and obliging Richard the owner is. Didn't hurt that the complimentary gin was delicious too. 11/10 would definitely come back
