The campus itself is great seems safe and secure .But the continuing roadworks make it a headach to get to my daughters halls and we have to take a different route each time which makes for a heated discussion for me and her dad 🤣 but hopefully they will be finished soon

This is one of the lower end accommodations available at the University and whilst this is reflected in the price I was still disappointed with my stay here.
I found the reception staff friendly and the location is really convenient for reaching the University building but this was the limit of the good points.
In the room it was cold as you do not have control over the heating the room was almost always cold, the small window and dark furnishings and carpet made the room dark and dull and not the best place to stay, but the furnishings do offer a fair amount of storage space and the my wooden bed was less prone to squeaking than a metal one.
The flat was very noisy, all of the doors would slam shut making a loud bang and as did the doors in other flats as i could constantly hear them slaming from my room, there was also very regular fire alarm test as well as contractors in the flat, this all added up to a lot of disturbances.
There is very poor ventilation, not only is the extractor in the kitchen pitiful leading to the room getting to hot, but the extractors in the bathroom and toilet were a joke.
Whilst having a separate shower and bathroom was nice the state of both of them was less than optimal, there must have been something wrong with the plumbing because the tiny toilet constantly reeked like a sewer, it was foul, no matter how much I cleaned the toilet or sprayed the room or put bleach down the toilet and sink the room still stank, even after my room mates left so i knew i was the only one using this facility.
The bathroom was not much better, the room always had a musky smell, and the concerning part was that this smell was coming from the hot water, this was worsened by the mold growth due to the poor shower ventilation if you could call it that. The shower itself was a fair size but the shower head was mounted to the wall which made cleaning more difficult along with the fact that instead of the shower walls siting on the rim of a tub it sat inside it which washed dirt underneath the shower glass into a small gap which also got filthy as did the tracks for the shower as they sat in the water that built up in the shower because it drained to slowly even after i cleaned the drains.
Towards the end of my stay contractors came in to undertake work, there where noisy unprofessional and trashed the kitchen covering it in sawdust, and when i reported it i had no response, that coupled with me being fobbed off when i requested an extension for my accommodation added a further sour note to the end of my stay at whitendale.

Whitendale hall is cheap so i didn't have high standards and whilst there was not really anything fundamentaly wrong, there were a lot of aspects which made living there less than pleasant and my advice is if you can book elsewhere.
