Nice place to stay, rooms are clean staff are very friendly and it's perfect over night stay for a ferry crossing as it's right next to the harbour. Great breakfast and soft and comfortable beds. Good location too! Would stay again and recommend!

- Wish we'd avoided the chip shop on the corner and ate at the Anchor and Inn instead as the food smelt lush.

A mixed review. The room was nice, as advertised. No air conditioning, but that's not uncommon in the U.K. The food at the Fire Pit restaurant was tasty, but the portion size was small. (A surprise, since the prices were high.). And finally, we had an email from Booking.co.uk saying "10 percent off at the Fire Pit if you dine early and finish by 7:15!". We did this; however, there was no discount, despite reminding the waitress of it. Overall.... "mixed" is the most generous I can do.

Not sure when the photos of this place were taken but it's gone way down hill since then. I also think that there are a lot of decent reviews that mix this place up with it's next door neighbour, the Rose and Crown which is an OK place..

We stayed in the Hope and Anchor and it was truly bad. Room wasn't particularly clean. Had music blaring until midnight, barstaff were rude.

5am I gave up and booked into another hotel for the next night.
Nobody was around in the morning to even hand in the keys. No lights on the stairs. Restaurant closed..... This was bank holiday weekend so they weren't refurbing or running down for the winter. It was just bad

There are plenty of decent places to stay in the area; I would strongly urge people to choose anywhere else.

This hotel is very convenient to the Fishguard ferry terminal. It's clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly. Breakfast was lovely too. If you are a light sleeper I'd recommend ear plugs, the music in the bar is quite loud and after it finished I could hear everything in the room next door, toilet flushing, water running and then the loudest snoring ever. My husband had earplugs in and he slept through it all. The TV in the room was quite old and there are a lot of very strong smelling diffusers throughout including in the bedroom which I found a bit over powering but I would stay here again and would recommend it.

Well I am so impressed with this establishment. The new owners are just wonderful. It is a lovely family run pub and you feel like you're an old friend. We had an absolutely scrumptious Sunday Lunch there and will most certainly be back. Thank you! Tess and David

Accidentally walked in here late one night because it was dark, thinking we were heading for the pub next door and not realising there are two adjacent to each other. The reception was a little off-putting because the first thing we heard someone say was "I thought you'd locked the door". As it turns out the staff and locals were pretty friendly and chatty.

The range of drinks isn't great unfortunately. My wife ordered a gin and tonic to find the only gin they had was Gordon's and they don't have tonic, only lemonade. And that was served from a plastic bottle, not even on tap. The beer was alright and the owners have a very large, very friendly Alsatian. I like a pub with a dog, which is why I gave 2 stars not 1, but this could be off-putting for some.

It's not as off-putting as being treated to unsolicited political opinions about COVID or wacky conspiracy theories about the 2008 financial crisis when you're trying to enjoy a quiet pint though. I patiently tolerated this without getting into a debate but it really isn't my vibe, so I didn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.
