Caernarfon Apartments offer a convenient base for exploring Snowdonia, with a good central location in Caernarfon, close to nearby parking. The amount of space, kitchen and and provision of kitchen amenities allowing for a self-catering stay is attractive. Having TV / kitchen appliances / iron / hairdryer is useful. However, whilst providing a convenient base, we were really disappointed with the overall quality of our stay at Caernarfon Apartments.
We were mostly shocked and disappointed by the lack of cleanliness of the apartment, with dust on surfaces, a grossly stained mattress and bed, dirtyness in kitchen with dried yellow gloop on draining board and sides, marks and hairs in the bathroom, dirty and sticky walls / windowsills / skirting and a squashed fly on the wall. Hoover was full of dirt too and we left the apartment cleaner than we found it. This left us feeling that the apartment had barely been cleaned at all, and the bed not changed. All of this is of concern during coronavirus, especially given that the information on website states rigorous cleaning measures are in place.
Whilst the decoration and layout of the apartments is nice and well thought, maintenance lacks. The lino flooring in the kitchen was coming away; bubbling and curling up, along with the carpet near the bedroom. The sash window in the bedroom does not properly shut and secure. This is not only a security concern - but as there is a variety of noisy pubs / bars located on either side of the block, it made it impossible to sleep. The noise couldn’t be shut out and was so unbearably loud we may as well have been in the pub ourselves and as a result of this along with the gross bed, we had to sleep on the sofa bed for the duration of our stay.
Although not overly expensive or luxurious - the apartments are listed for “guests that expect a little more,” and it is over £100 a night, so it was really disappointing to have this level of dirtiness, a stained bed, broken window, noise making it impossible to sleep, and flooring bubbling and curling up.
The hosts run this very much as an impersonal apartment business. There is no in-house info regarding WiFi, heating, how to use appliances, fire procedures etc - and communications are lacking and robotic.
Never one to write negative reviews or look for reasons to complain but our stay was disappointing and it seems to us that because of the high rating for this accommodation in Caernarfon (there are few other options) that guests coming may be taken for granted / taken advantage of. We certainly didn’t feel that this was the best stay worthy of high ratings and wouldn’t stay again nor recommend to others. It’s a shame as the apartments could be fantastic if cleaned and maintained better with a little more attention to detail.

Abolutley brilliant, cannot find fault, centrally located, next to the Black boy Inn in the castle walls, easy to get out and about. Would recommend to everyone
