I had experienced 2 births at whipps cross, both were a good experience. Especially in the birth unit everyone so helpful and reassuring. In aftercare definitely has been some improvements from my previous experience. I think the main issue is that nurses are constantly understaffed.

Terrible experience with this maternity unit. Waiting time was hours! There’s more horrible midwives than there are nice and they don’t listen to you at all which is so bad because it ends up putting you and your unborn baby at risk! The night midwives are worse! Very rude midwives, lack compassion. I had this experience recently I was admitted for 13 days. The midwives over intervene with your baby, I understand they’ve all had training at different times but they all tell you different things and try to tell you what should be doing with your baby and how to care for them, whether you’ve asked for the advice or not. My baby had to go on antibiotics and one of the doctors didn’t want to explain anything she was injecting my baby with or what she was actually doing while she was poking him with a needle several times on top of that she was extremely rude to me and said I was a problem and no help for asking questions of what exactly she was doing with my baby! As a whole worst experience of my life! Please avoid this maternity unit and travel if you must! Plus the toilets and showers are filthy and extremely small. Avoid!!!

I was very pleased with my experience in maternity unit and I couldn't have asked more. The midwives and doctor, especially in labour ward were absolutely amazing and supportive. They gave me lot of attention, support and reassurance through my labour despite how busy they were..just cannot describe in words how truly fantastic they are..I've been given lots of advice, information and help during my stay there.
The best recommendations.

Worst service, constantly reminding the nurses what they should be doing. Excessive waiting times with no up date whatsoever. When you ask for information, they respond as if you are a child who does not understand english. Avoid this place

I had my daughter here last week and my partner and I were absolutely astounded by the service, it was flawless from start to finish. I was rushed to an emergency c section and the staff here saved my daughters life. The ladies in mulberry ward are angels on earth and I can’t recommend the maternity unit as a whole enough. Towards the end of the pregnancy we had a few triage visits with some very long waiting times but they were so busy and once you get seen they are so lovely you forget. I’m aware how understaffed they are but despite this the service and care my family received here was incredible and I would have no issues coming back for future pregnancies.

Sadly, Mulberry Ward where you stay after birth has unbelievably insensitive and rude nurses. I do not understand why such people chose to do what they do.
To treat women who just gave birth the way that I have experienced and observed over a week spent there, was shocking.
90% of staff is so awful, unhelpful, insensitive to any new mothers and postpartum stage. There is 10% of nurses and staff who are just angels, the main food lady is sweet, Becky is amazing, the young tall lady who checks everyones BP - (I am sorry I dont recall names) these are the only people who cared or listened to anyone - sadly it is just a handful..
Over the week of my stay there I have been seen by many nurses and staff who on several occasions brought me to tears saying literally such things as 'you do not know how to take care of your baby' - It was my first baby and I am young so they obviously gave so much unsolicited advice, thought they can push me around not knowing I have a lot of infant experience, my baby was most well behaved infant around who fed well, was changed on time and was doing great. Somehow they managed to make me feel worthless, bad mother.
Do not count on getting any sleep at night, not because of necessary night health checks or your neighbour moms and their babies but extremely loud staff who shouts, screams and laughs very loud all around the corridor and rooms! Around mothers who need sleep so much..
My blood pressure was sky rocketing during my stay and immediately came back to normal after return home.

This is just a piece of information, I could write a book about all shocking things I experienced and witnessed..

The worst experience...

Horrible , Maternity unit - first you need to fix automatic door near Maternity Reception area Sounds coming like truck engines 2) lack of professionalism , Security guard doing everything you should hire proper staff for Reception 3) please stick board " Keep Silence " near Reception counter go for Visual Management
Please that's request not complain 🙏🏽
