Brewer Street Surgery

Excellent service this morning from the receptionist who listened to my request for an urgent appointment with a nurse following a leg injury to the actual appointment with the empathetic and professional nurse who treated me.
Once again, quick and efficient treatment from this surgery. Thank you to all.

I have recently registered myself and children at this surgery as my husband has been registered there since a child. The treatment from the doctor and receptionist so far has exceeded my expectations. The doctor was caring and did not have a issue with calling me later in the day. My daughter has recurring tonsillitis and it’s good to know we are in safe hands.

Sadly, this surgery has been going downhill in the last 2 years. Last year, I had a receptionist speak to me about a medical problem through the intercom while a member of the public was standing there next to me and could hear everything!! (GDPR?!) And today, they have put the incorrect month on my sickness certificate for work - September instead of August. The whole place is becoming a worry with unprofessional sloppy practices.

Doctors are good! Bless them, but calling to reception is nightmare. I've been wanting 40min as a thirt person on a queue and when it was my turn the phone hung up after the first one minute of the conversation. I couldn't book appointment.

My wife saw one of the doctors this morning and was given a prescription. However, having visited chemists in and around Maidstone none had that particular drug. We phoned the receptionist who suggested we ask one of the chemists if they could offer an alternative. This worked and after another call to the receptionist the doctor was able to send a revised prescription to the pharmacy. First class work by all at the surgery. Thank you.

I have been with this practice since I was born, so 26 years and have only now had an awful experience! I have numerous medical conditions which are difficult to manage and have recently moved 5 minutes up the road from my previous address and have been sent a letter saying I have 28 days to find another practice. I called them to find out if there was any way I could stay under the circumstances, to be told they’d already removed me from the system (even though I have 25 days left??) and that if I needed anything I’d need to use a different doctors? I asked to speak to the practice manager to be told by the rude receptionist to ‘calm down’ while she laughed at me and told me I can’t speak to anyone else. Now I have to try and find another surgery even though all the ones I’ve phoned aren’t taking on new patients and hope I don’t run out of medication before I register somewhere new! Disgusting way to treat people, especially those who rely on you to help there day to day life and who come to the surgery regularly for appointments and injections etc. Such a shame as they have always been good until now!

I joined Brewer Street surgery during the first lockdown and retired during the same period, having had several doctors during my employment as I moved around often and needing to register at a surgery wherever I was based, I can only sing the praises of all concerned at the Brewer street surgery from the Reception to the Nurses and my doctor, Dr. Garrett, you have all been amazing on the phone and during my several visits to the surgery of late.
