Spectacular flying display over North Yorkshire today. Outstanding. Viewed from the ground, these guys flew so close to one another, they looked like a single four engined jet. To think they were only returning to base. Respect guys.

Wouldn’t let me have a go on the planes (I’ve played Flight Simulator, it would have been fine). And large men in uniforms started shouting at me aggressively.

Duty free had a decent range though but found the physical training exercise before boarding unnecessary as I was only carrying hand luggage for a short, 3-night stay in Tenerife.

Anyway, I’ll probably give this a miss in the future but adequate for the purpose it serves.

Over and out.

A great place for aircraft spotting. Park up at the viewing area and then walk round to the entrance to the forest.

Great base for aviation photography! Frequent F-35 and F-15 activity, and some other aircraft like the C-5 Galaxy. Visitors car park is easily accessible. Food van is there occasionally.

I was born in 1972 and we were stationed here when I was 18 months old until I was about 3 maybe 4 years old.
I obviously don't remember much.
But I do remember a room with a piano (Sunday school) and I remember a women's face who had given me a doll. I still have that doll her name is Abigail.
I remember being happy there.
Have always wanted to go as an adult.
Does anyone know if it's an open base to visitors

I was stationed there in 1982 - 1985 loved it that was my first station we had the F111F I was a fuel systems mechanic. I lived in a little flat in Brandon right at the end of one of the runway I got the full effect 24/7😂. My favorite was the Brandon Pub on the corner and the fish and chips shop right down the street. Just can remember the name of the base we went TDY for a few months in 84 or 85 for runway repair at RAF Lakenheath.
