Ordered a Hornby spare gear set that they had on stock at 1pm and by 2pm the following day it arrived with me by first class post on the West Coast of Scotland. This was a difficult to find part (some of the more usual spares stockists didn't have one) and the postage charge was very fair. Great service - thank you.

Great little shop but owner has no idea of what customer service should resemble. Couldn't even be bothered to price sometime that I've since found on his own website. I will look elsewhere however

Ordered items from here before, but never again.

Ordered items that turned out not to be in stock, emails were apparently sent to notify me of this (but not received) and on chasing received response saying "If your happy to wait I can order these but it will be about 7 - 10 days before they arrive here if I can get them." - replied saying go ahead and order, but no response received to that email. Called and Rob was sarcastic and unhelpful at best and ended the call stating he would cancel and refund my order. He assumed I would know he had got the email (despite the obvious email issues from their side), that I would know that despite ordering them from Hornby they might not arrive (how would I know how the Hornby dealer system works), and that customers in the shop are of higher value to him. It could have been a quick, friendly phone call, sadly not.

I share the opinion of a recent reviewer Adam. I enquired about spares stock levels and got what was basically a 'jobsworth' response. I had followed the line of enquiry as advised on the website, which has errors and poor spelling. I just wanted to support a local business. In contrast I contacted Peter's Spares and the response was so helpful and polite a complete opposite. Maybe there is an opportunity for training with regard to customer service. The person I had to deal with was the same 'Rob' that Adam referred to in his review. I think that maybe the saying that it takes a couple of generations to build a business and one to take it down perhaps applies. I think it is so very sad that someone with such a gift chooses not to appreciate it. I for one would pay more for orders than go through this experience
again - this last comment refers to sarcasm regarding spares prices. I have never felt the need to leave a review like this nay never have. Caveat Emptor

I visited the shop today, 30/12/22, aware of some of the very negative reviews posted regarding the manner of the shop owner and poor level of customer service. I can state that I found the man to be friendly, extremely helpful and well informed on various aspects of the hobby. It was a pleasant shopping experience and I shall certainly shop there again.
