I visited the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking and it was a most enjoyable experience.
It is a mosque built in traditional Islamic architectural style.
And it is a most beautiful Mosque.
It was built by a Hebrew linguist who went on to speak many languages.
The Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking promotes peace, harmony and understanding.
It is a mosque that promotes inter faith dialogue.
It promotes community cohesion.
It is an important part of Woking.
I would recommend a visit to the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking.

Such a beautiful place, very tranquil and spiritual atmosphere. Full of history and very well maintained. Parking available onsite but it gets full during Friday prays.

There is another pray hall behind the main mosque. Very nice & well maintained park with children's play area to chill and reflect.

Very polite local community happy to stop and chat.

Some shops like Asda and others 5 minutes away.

Amazing place, well happy/blessed to be able to stop here.

May Allah bless & preserve this mosque for many more years. Ameen

A moving experience. The first formal mosque built in the UK. It is small, but beautiful. It's a symbol of inclusivity and belonging for millions of Muslims living in the UK.

2/ The Shah Jahan Mosque, Woking, England

This is the first purpose built mosque that was built in the UK.

It was built in 1889 by Dr Gottlieb Wilhelm Leitner, an orientalist of Jewish descent from Hungary. Money was donated by Begum Shah Jahan, the Nawab Begum of Bhopal.

🕌 The Shah Jahan Mosque (Woking Mosque) was built in 1889 as the first purpose build mosque in the UK and Northern Europe, build by Hungarian-British Orientalist and partly funded by Sultan Shah Jahan Begum of Bhopal, as a place for students at the Oriental Institute in Woking to worship. It is a Grade I listed building.

💠 Peace Gardens: The original Woking Muslim Military Cemetery was opened in 1917 by the British Government to counteract German propaganda that Muslim Indian soldiers from the army were not being buried according to their religious rites. Muslim Indian soldiers connected with WW1 were buried there and a further 8 connected with WW2. It is a Grade II listed building.
