Nice history lesson and gives an appreciation of how horrible it was to be in a boat for so many incarnations. A lot better now but no than you very much. Not many inaccuracies so overall very good. Museum is particularly interesting.

Really good museum covering the history of submarines, with a wide range of exhibits (including video clips). The best part is going aboard HMS Alliance, the retired submarine docked there, and hearing from the guides (ex-submariners) about life below decks.
Access is via the waterbus from the Dockyard across to Gosport.

It was a great experience to see inside a Submarine post WW2.

After going in we realised how small the spaces are for humans.

🎬 Movies make it look so much bigger.

Amazing how the Men in Uniform manage all of this.

Great site to be at.

Wow! Such an interesting museum. The volunteers in the HMS Alliance were friendly and very knowledgeable. It was an amazing experience to walk through the boat and get a glimmer into what it must have been like on board. The rest of the museum is great, too, with some very good displays. The other massive highlight for me was being able to go inside Holland 1 - the first Royal Navy submarine, commissioned in 1901.

The Royal Navy Submarine Museum is well worth a visit. The exhibition has a nice mix of display items and things you can try. There is also a British diesel-electric submarine you can enter., The guide working at the submarine had personal experience from serving on the same class of boats. The museum shop is also worth a visit.

By far my favourite out of the exhibitions. You can get the boat over from the dock yard here. Which is great to see the aircraft carrier. Once here there is a little cafe perfect for a snack or lunch. Inside the building there is lots of history on subs. Then you have the massive submarine outside you can walk through and really gives you a feel of what it was like. And if your lucky your see the friendly fox who's not fased by humans and lives here.

Absolutely loved it. Terrific volunteer guide who had worked on Polaris subs and had fascinating insights to life under the waves. I liked that it’s distant from main dockyard so lives in its own bubble.

Did this as part of the Portsmouth Dock ultimate ticket and glad we did wouldn't have visited otherwise. Our tour guide was professional, knowledgeable of submarines and very friendly. Can get a boat ride from Portsmouth dockyard also.
