This museum is rather special. I say that, as a kid age nine, the hut was in the field at Kings Road School. It was our changing room, and games kit store. the same hut is not at this museum. I passed by all the Marconi stuff as a kid, so seeing Sandford Mill jam packed with the City's past is incredible. So much to do and see. BUT, public can only visit on Open days, see website for dates..

Visited as part of the Sumner of science but the museum was open with all the wonderful volunteers enthusing the children to learn about radio, television techniques and other boys and pieces including resistance.

A very nice museum to visit. Its very educational and great to see they have an amateur radio station operating there as its the birth place of radio. A great day out and well worth a visit.

They should have let people know that Summer of Science is by online pre-booking ONLY! If you turn up with cash, like we did, you'll be turned away, like we were, with disappointed children. If they are going to change the system so dramatically they should make it abundantly clear on the web-site AND the posters. I WILL NEVER GO TO SANDFORD MILL MUSEUM AGAIN AFTER THIS TOTAL FIASCO!

A treasure-trove of industrial and technological history, from millstones to Marconi's groundbreaking work. Open by appointment for schools and well worth a visit for a hands-on educational experience. A wonderful team of volunteers share knowledge and enthusiasm. Look out for Open Days! This is a hidden gem, worthy of investment and wider publicity.

Fascinating place but only open a few days each year e.g. during Heritage Week. Contains the original Marconi Hut and lots of historical equipment.
