Opened 19th September 2003 in remembrance of the 7 people who lost their lives on a Western Express from Swansea to Paddington collided with an empty goods train on 19th September 1997. In total 147 passengers were injured. No doubt all 212 were scarred for life in one way or another.
The driver was acquitted on 7 counts of manslaughter. But Western Express were fined 1.5million under the health and safety at work act for faulty signal lights.
Only 3stars as the last time I visited it it was shamefully unkempt! Memorials of this ilk should be looked after by either the council or the station staff. Come on guys, get your act together and keep this place looking respectful!!!
Just over the railway bridge from Southall Station.
