Definitely overpriced and if you come on a school break, you will have to battle against an army of out of control kids, running up and down the stairs and along all the corridors available. I am well used to kids and believe me, the situation at this castle is quite unique. There are hundreds of them and they all seem to be completely out of control. Like some other reviewers, I have also found staff to be quite unfriendly, apart from the lady at the ticket office, which was very kind and helpful. The castle itself is quite nice and furnishing gives you an idea of how it must’ve been back in the days. I particularly appreciated the fireplace in the big whole of the keep; it smells great and it actually worms up a lot the room. I have the English heritage membership, but if I had to pay it would’ve been a phenomenal rip-off. It is always very disappointing to see how much English Heritage charges to visit these places. I would never pay this kind of money to see this castle, it’s just not worth it.

Castle is in a very good condition however the prices is way too high for what you can actually see within the castle walls. Therefore 3 stars for the entrance fee the rest was fine.
