A fascinating man of singular wit, worthy of visiting and learning more about him. Museum is in an old building on several floors, donations are welcome as it's free to enter. Currently they want you to pre book online during covid, which was easy to do.

After a very welcoming greeting at the entrance the birthplace collection starts with an excellent short video about the life and work of Samuel Johnson. There are some useful boards explaining the part of 18C Johnson lived in and the exhibition continues over three floors . Free entry

Great little museum, lots of interesting information, and a real thrill to see lots of objects (a desk, an armchair, a chocolate pot) that belonged to Dr Johnson. Friendly staff who made us feel welcome, and a trail for children.

Nice to see the life story of a person who didn't give up easily. Very welcoming staff. Great storyboards and nice to see personal objects on display. Icing on the cake was top floor and seeing all the exposed timbers and construction of the roof. Was great to see the exposed joints etc.

I took my grandchildren where they did a trail. Wrote with a quill pen and dressed up. Lovely staff
