Hidden Gem

A little out of the way but well worth the effort (Head over to the post office there is a sign outside one of the entrances). The Museum is small but packed with loads of local information and full items on display. On the day of our visit the Lady that was there (It's Volunteer run), was so welcoming.

Plants were for sale in the small garden.

Don't be fooled by the size of this place. There is so much fascinating local history packed into this small museum that you could easily spend a couple of hours exploring it...and having a lovely cup of tea.

This is a small but interesting museum. It consisted of one room crammed with mainly mining and other local industrial memorabilia. On the plus side it is dog friendly but we thought it was overpriced for what it is. It took us about 30 minutes to visit.

Small museum, but very interesting. Only on the one floor, but artifacts were relevant to the local area. Worth a visit and supports the local economy.

A lovely, welcoming little museum on the site of an old school. A must for getting an insight into the prehistory and industrial heritage of the area. Run and funded entirely by volunteers so worth supporting.

This is one of our favorite museums anywhere. First of all, it's very comfortable. It occupies two floors in an interesting building. Secondly, they have such easy to understand displays that teach you about the long and fascinating history of Swaledale. From the stone age through lead mining, they cover it all. Plenty of artifacts and photos give a nice personal touch. Helen Clifford is a gem and is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Do not leave Reeth without spending some time here.

Great small local museum outlining the history of Arkengarthdale and Swaledale - friendly staff, worth visiting if in the area :)
