They have a one way system in place. The main part of the jail is the cell blocks and most of the cells have information in them, about what type of prisoner they had. Why they we're in prison, what crime did they commit. How long they were in jail for. What age they were, If they were repeat offenders. The cells are over two levels and the stairs to get up or down can be quite difficult. Once you've finished in the cells the next part tells you a bit about Jedburgh itself. There is a few picnic tables about but you can't buy food or drink here. It's free to visit and is run by a charity and they have place where you can donate.

Great information in every room including the goal, you got to read about prisoners and the history of the castle. Free entry with optional donation. Wee shop, toilets, its located up a steep hill, beautiful grounds.

An absolute gem of a place! Really friendly man on the desk to give you initial information then it was completely FREE to explore. Really informative boards telling you about the history and about prison life - a great place to look round!

Bearing in mind it’s free this is a really nice place, some great history and a good way to spend an hour or two. Staff were lovely as well.

Lovely place freindly staff plenty of history and good display of the prison and life how it was in the day and it's free but can leave donations in lovely town with plenty to offer small shops and cafes with in walking distance free car and Mary Queen of Scots museum not far. Well worth a visit

Liked it and it's free to enter but they do ask for donations. Some stairs are a squeeze and if you are tall you will need to lower your head or have a lump or 2!!. Some of the things posted in and around the jail will make your mind go to places you don't want to go and make you thankful you weren't around in those days (even as a young child). All in all a nice place for information on how things used to b.

Very interesting and informative. Provides a historical narrative of the times. Visit is free of charge but please support the charitable organisation so they can keep up with their great work.

Nice little place, especially if you want to see some of the history of Jedburgh as well as some of the people they locked up the jail.

Entry is free with an optional donation, and there's free parking, so it's worth a decent donation
