Kodurand Violin School

Beginning to learn to play the violin as an absolute beginner at the age of 47 was a daunting step for me to take, when I approached Liv for lessons. Fortunately she didn't think this was at all a ridiculous idea and under her firm but gentle instruction I've been pleased with my progress. She is a perfectionist with a high level of technical skill, not allowing me to get away with anything incorrectly right from the start, which has been very good for me. She is also patient, warm and approachable, so that lessons have been thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring.

I cannot praise Liv enough for her patience and encouragement in showing me how, with practice, I can improve my violin playing. Over sixty years without any formal lessons I had certainly picked up many bad habits. Her teaching is thorough, which I appreciate, but she is also great fun to be with and I enjoy my lessons.

Simon has managed to take our daughter up to the next level after having reached a bit of a plateau. She enjoys her lessons and crucially takes from them a wealth of ideas, tips and improvements she can work on. The lessons are so motivating that she comes home eager to practice and genuinely feels that she is improving and learning. Simon's experience and professionalism really do shine through. So glad to have a teacher of this level and quality!

I have been having lessons with Liv and Simon for over a year, having not really picked up a violin since I was a child. I have progressed so much and achieved a distinction at Grade 2. I now have the confidence to perform in front of other students and have joined a community orchestra. I really enjoy my lessons as Liv and Simon are relaxed and personable yet still push me to achieve my best. Highly recommended.

Best decision I ever made for my daughter's music training. Kodurand Violin studio is a real professional and Liv is a real teacher, and I can tell you she is the main reason my child's love for the violin and the excitement for each class. Liv is so successful; build a great friendship with her in fact my daughter is only 5 and a half years old, but she says she wants to be a violin teacher when she grows up.

I came to Kodurand violin studio as an adult learner of grade 4. As an older learner I was apprehensive but from my first lesson Simon put me at ease and he has since taught me in a professional, fun and engaging way. He is attentive to what the student wants and steers the lessons accordingly whilst still getting the maximum out of learning.
I have come on leaps and bounds since starting with Simon, his teaching technique is brilliant, it’s animated and helps you make your music come alive whilst developing your technique. In our lessons he offers insights into music history, theory and the history around the pieces that we play, this is great as it’s inspiring and fuels my want to learn.
I’m very happy having lessons with Simon and plan on staying to complete my ABRSM grades.
I would highly recommend Kodurand violin studio to anyone wanting to learn the violin.

Liv is an exceptional violin tutor and our 8 year old daughter has blossomed in confidence as well as musical ability since her lessons began. The lessons are enjoyable and Liv has a lovely calm and patient presence as well as incredible musical talent. Very glad we found Kodurand Violin Studio!
