A lovely place to walk and quiet. Shame about the the nettles though. Went on path to top of rocks to see the heather but mostly taken over with bracken weed. Plenty of connecting paths there and to nearby places.

Little know area that was a quarry. Impressive 'Rocks', the dogs love it and in an area of quiet contemplation of nature and wildlife.

Carvers rock is a hidden treasure!!

There are hidden beaches, hidden valleys, fields with beautiful views and woodlands similar to the forest of Dean!

Great to take your kids troll hunting, or dogs for a walk, bird watching or even photography practice!!

I do reccomned parking down the road slightly as be aware there is no set parking so it is road side parkng.

Interesting walk down to the rocks, looks like a spot for rock climbing too, due to the metal rings in some of the rock faces.

Bit muddy at this time of year but a nice cuppa at the cafe made the walk worth it!

Lovely walks around the reservoir and carvers rocks nature reserve.
Poor online information about the walks, hopefully my photos of information boards will be helpful.
There are many paths to take, some with lovely views of the Res.
Obviously in winter there's not as much to see and it's quieter, we passed 3 sets of people, 2 of which had dogs off the lead.
It was quite muddy in Dec, but not so much that you had to wear wellies, good walking boots would be fine.
It is undulating in parts, with steps and bridges, so not suitable for people with walking difficulties or pushchairs.
Free parking is in a layby at the south east of the woods.
There is also a bridle path nearby for cyclists, which I'm told is a good circular route, mostly with a sandy path.

There’s some lovely walks to be had around Carvers rocks and Foremark reservoir depending on how much time you have. There are some exposed roots and rocks on the paths so caution should be used, but I think that adds more adventure feeling. Also some wet and slippy patches at the time of visiting (January)
Once we found the outcrop of Carvers rock it was so peaceful of a cold, January, fri afternoon. We stood still and listened to many types of bird as we took in the magnitude of what was once a working quarry almost 200 years ago.

It's a great place to go for the kids. Lovely walks, rocks to climb, rope swings, woods and a reservoir. You can keep them entertained for hours.

Parking is free - you have to park on the grass verge by the gates to what used to be the car park and picnic area (been closed off for many years).

Shame chavs are allowed in - the litter they leave is disgusting.
