A bit of a let down....expected a little more forest than what was there. It looked more like someone's backyard overgrowth! And why is it called "Windmill" Spinney? Misnomer!

I visited this little wood last week and unfortunately I found that it was quite a sorry sight, yes there are some impressive old trees but I think that it needs some management, some parts were very overgrown and in my opinion in need of a little clearing but not too much. Is it too small to call a reserve? Probably. I did also notice a few beer bottles strewn around which is a shame as this could be a nice place to take your young ones to explore and who knows even get into the conservation of this place. I will visit again in the spring to see how it looks then but if you do visit don't expect a large wood as this is just a large garden with some impressive old trees.

Update: I visited this little spinney again today 2nd May to see the bluebells, unfortunately there wasn't that many of them but still, they were mostly English bluebells. It's frustrating and a real shame that someone still has to spoil the visual display of these sadly disappearing native plants and ironically throwing their used face mask that was intended to protect themselves from Covid 19 but completely disregarding the protection of other's who visit this place of conservation and indeed the reserve itself. Why is it some people are so selfish in their actions and especially in the current situation we are all facing.

So small part of the terrain through the houses. So good to keep areas like this and have a place for a fresh breath through the day.
