Been here a couple of times for a walk. It is a massive forest - probably the biggest I've ever been to. There's so many intertwining paths all over the place. It is a nice relaxing walk throughout - no really steep gradients or anything. I tend to stick to the northern section of the forest but if you cross the road to the southern part - you'll not find it's not as good. Looks like they've been cutting down some trees and the paths are a mess, full of rocks. It's kinda boring too compared to the northern part - there's not really many differing paths in the southern section.

The car park for Bishop Wood does get full pretty quickly though. By about 11AM on a Sunday, it was totally full and I got there at 9AM. You might see a few people there but because the forest is so big, you don't often bump into other people when you're walking.

Could go once a day for a year and find a new route to take. Brilliant for dog walking and losing yourself for hours.

A very pleasant and (mostly) quiet location for a woodland walk.

A good old fashioned walk in the woods. Plenty of trails to make it as long or as short as you want. Worth while in all seasons

Would be 4 stars if it wasn't for the tick infestation. Not an issue if you don't have a dog but I've never seen so many before. We were constantly pulling the off our ESS all the way round, then some off the towels we use for her to sit on in the car when we got back Home and then even more when we gave her shower, (she likes to get dirty lol).
As a place to walk though it's very nice, flat, lots of shade so good for sunny days, multiple ways to go. I'd love to give it a higher rating but as a dog owner I just can't. Pretty good parking though and free too.

Positive first, the woods are beautiful and it is a lovely walk, very flat so no scrambling up hills.
On the negative no bins or benches anywhere, very muddy in places would definitely recommend hiking boots especially if going around some of the back tracks. Not any sign posts, requiring members of our party to use phones to work out which way to go. No dog waste bins at all even in the car parks which would have been helpful. Worst of all though was the ticks, have never seen so many on any walk I've taken elsewhere including holidays in Wales and the Scottish Highlands. We are no stranger to woodland walks and the odd tick is inevitable but our springer spaniel was absolutely covered, we were pulling them off her as we walked round, before we got in the car to go home, off the towels used in the car and had to shower and comb her down once at home. Not a problem if you don't have dogs but I definitely wouldn't be taking mine again.

Lovely place to walk the dogs, but make sure to pack bug spray as we were bitten A LOT!

Lovely looking area, I was only in the car park for a minute but saw a couple beautiful birds 😆
