What a hidden treasure. The site is much bigger than you'd expect and is redolent of centuries of mining history and evidence of all the mineral layers laid down over millennia. We went in winter, so no wild flowers, but it was still a good walk, and lovely to hear the ravens.

This could be a great place to visit. We visited it on a Thursday afternoon and found there were no signs, story boards, restoration work, staff or even any other visitors. Most of the former buildings, stonework, etc. were covered in overgrowth which limited what you can see, and you can't venture past the barriers for your own safety. Some of the barriers were fallen which gave it a derelict feel which made me wonder if we should have been there. The place had a similar vibe to a Welsh version of "The Hills have Eyes".

What a wonderful place to walk,,, only downside is the uneducated dog owners who pick up their dog's poo in a bag, then leave it in the trees or on the fencing

Great to explore and lovely walks.
Also even more to explore if you know where to look and dont mind going a bit underground but your obviously not meant to go inside these parts as there fenced/gated off for safety reasons but people have forced some open.

Nothing really special. There is more things to see in that area. I believe it’s a good walk with the dog for local people
