Unfortunately upon arriving at the venue at 6:50pm to set up our event, we were greeted but the most unfriendly and hostile door staff I’ve ever had the privilege of encountering, we were searched thoroughly like we were drug mules, finally we entered the premises to discover the venue lied and was indeed still showing the England v France match!!! At this point I can only laugh…. Anyway we were then quizzed and pacified to allow what was blatantly advertised as an event to go on along side ours. At this point we started to realise this venue and it’s staff were totally unprepared, unprofessional and at times careless about the fact we had 180 people attending an event at their venue they were only focused on the 40 people there for the game.
We literally had to set up downstairs ourselves arrange furniture, clean up as there was half drunk mouldy drinks and cups scattered between chairs and tables which also look like they had not been cleaned in months. Our event that was due to start at 8pm we had to beg for a member of staff to man the bar that’s supposed to serve our patrons, we had a BOGOF offer on cocktails 8-9pm but unfortunately to get these you had to go all the way back upstairs.
Finally our event began and it then materialised the exhortation-ate prices that the staff would make up at any point I paid between £12-15 for the same drink, I purchased a shot that cost me £6 but then when I purchased 12 shots for my team I was swiftly charged a massive £96 (£8 a shot) instead of £72.
The toilets ohhhhh the toilets, they are disgustingly nasty, how can a toilet have no soap, no tissue, no hand driers instead there’s a guy in there with contactless payment and a big roll of blue tissue expecting you to pay to dry your hands???
All in all I wish I read the reviews before booking this venue as they all are definitely true! Book and attend this venue with caution.
We had IDs on our phone and we are in our 30s, they were so rude to us after waiting in the cold and already bought expensive tickets online. We couldn't get in and lost our money.
We ended in another club called the book club and had a great time.
2/3 stars moved down to 1 star when literally seconds after our group were served drinks the music went off and we were aggressively told to leave. Allowing us to finish them in peace and quiet out of the way was a reasonable ask but we were harassed non-stop by a small army of staff to finish and leave. Some of the staff seemed to get a real kick out of being unrelenting together which I guess was lovely for employee morale.
In addition, the overpriced drinks after a £15 entry fee, plus empty glasses and sticky surfaces all over the place really topped the experience off.
Frisked and checked by security more seriously than I’ve ever been in my life. Bar was extremely dead. Don’t take card, must pay cash. Genuinely looked like 14-16 year olds were in the bar. They were drinking tins of beer, perhaps smuggled in? Or they were sold them, but that seems equally weird. Bouncers were drinking too and mingling with the young people in the bar (see the security guard in the back of my photo). Some of the patrons were very old and the mix of people was so strange. Unfriendly staff too.
Avoid like the plague. We left within 10 minutes.
Don't go here. Dreadful.
