So peaceful and lots of wildlife. We saw catapillers, coots, moorhens and buzzards. There were other birds such as magpie, Jay and dippers as well as Swans and Canada Geese. Fantastic walk and well worth a visit.

I do love exploring the coastline, especially where there is a lighthouse! I found this place online and decided to stop by. Parking is £4 for non-RSPB members - you buy a token from a hut to operate the barrier - but to visit the actual wetlands is free. We had a little wander to the East Usk Lighthouse, saw the coast and the West Usk Lighthouse across the river and then headed back as my partner isn't a big fan of walking, so there was a lot we didn't explore. There was clearly lots to see, but the pathways weren't marked very clearly, so I can imagine it is easy to get lost here! Still, a very beautiful place to get lost and I would definitely recommend!

I absolutely loved this place. The staff were very helpful. I had booked a mobility scooter which was a godsend. To pick it up at the reception which was a bit of a walk for me, they said that they would have brought the scooter to where the car was if they had known. The cafe had a good choice of snacks. We both had a lovely sandwich, coffee and Welsh tea. We set off following the map given. There's a choice of routes you can take depending on how long or far you want to walk following the paths surrounded by reeds and flowering plants. There's also a pontoon over water with a lot of assorted fish. Different birds can be heard whilst you wend your way through the wetlands. This all so enjoyable especially if your a nature lover.

Great place for the family to enjoy nature.

We Pay for RSPB membership so parking is free.

Staff are great

The shop looks really nice with a wide range of bird watching and feeding products.

Toilets on site are very clean

We didnt eat at the cafe, but it looked nice.

The only down side was I did spot a bit of litter. It amazes me that even at place that are nature reserves some people still drop litter.

Nice flat easy walking. Not many birds to be seen but August can be a quiet month. Impressive nos of bees, including the rare carder bee, on everlasting pea and other flowers. Nice cafe/restaurant and shop. Plenty of parking free for RSPB members.

Beautiful place to go for a walk. We did the longest route. Was really nice. Could do with more shady places to sit along the walk. Cafe was extremely clean. Hot food would be a bonus but lovely sandwiches on offer.

First visit here, didn't know what to expect really and didn't anticipate the area to be so big!
Friendly and cheerful staff, facilities were great and I was actually surprised that the toilets were immaculately clean and modern (I guess I expected something dated, perhaps dirty from shoes/wellies)
The cafe looked nice with the large windows and clean, though menu options were a bit thin on the ground - however that's understandable as the kitchen is probably small and they wouldn't want to be wasting produce.

All in all, I'd definitely go back - it was a pleasure to be in so much nature, it certainly didn't feel like Newport!

First visit here today and I was really impressed although that said if I had a choice between this place or an M4 relief road I would opt for the relief road thats if the Wetlands had any influence in the decision making.that said it is a good place to visit good walking trails and quite a few of them great scenery out across the estuary did not see much nature well one grey squirrell a few ducks .imagine a great place to visit in spring&summer so will go back.
Visitor centre and cafe is first class, and they serve great coffee
