Little Pumpkins Nursery - East Croydon

My eldest used to go here 2012-14, When it was blue house day nursery. I decided to go and see it as I needed a nursery for my toddler. The building is beautiful inside. They did a great job of refurbishing it. However that was the only good thing I saw. The deputy manager showed me around. Not a great tour tbh. Didn’t explain much of what the kids do day to day, what their actual schedule is like or show me things like the menu or how the staff track the kids developmental progress etc. We went down to the baby room which is conjoined with a room where 2 yr olds were. There were 5/6 babies with 1 member of staff and 2 unattended 2 yr olds left in the other room. I asked about the staff to child ratio, there were supposed to be 2 other members of staff there. They weren’t there. She gave the excuse that it’s because they were bringing them down from nap time. At no point should multiple toddlers be left unattended. Anyone with a small child knows it only takes a few seconds of turning the other way and an accident can happen. The 2 members of staff that I saw bringing them down looked not a day over 16 and were both apprentices. The lady that showed me around didn’t seem to take a genuine interest in my child, just something very odd about her demeanour.
It’s also £72 a day (nappies not provided) which is a little steep. A real shame. The 1 star is only for the fact that the building is nicely decorated, albeit unfinished.

So happy with Little Pumpkins and highly recommended them. Brand new nursery with great facilities, wonderful food and great education programme. Great outdoor space and wonderful staff. My kid loves it!
