To give you some context we were in Regus from July 2021-June 2022 renting a small 2 person office and it was the best office space we found in the local area. The grounds and building were lovely but this probably was the only selling point. Terry and Karen, the receptionists were also very welcoming so this negative review has nothing to do with them as their hands are tied.
We were told agt the start of the term
Now for the negatives:
- No heating from December-February. Everyone had to wear coats unless they wanted to freeze to death - My theory is that they didn't fancy paying the increasing energy bills
- No microwave in kitchen, had to buy a microwave and squeeze it in a 2 person office (practically a 1 person).
- We paid a deposit of £1000~ and were told that we could remove any marks on the walls ourselves (from our computer chairs as the room is so small) but this was not the case and have charged us £300 so they can paint.
- Charged a £160 cleaning bill, so they can "clean the phone" - we do not live in the 90s and didn't even have a phone.
- When fetching a mug for the days tea's we were always found to play "who can find the cleanest mug".
- Cutlery - Always had to rewash after coming out of the dishwasher.
- Crockery - They removed all bowls because of the cereal monsters so I was unable to have my yoghurt. They claimed £1 million was spent on milk across every Regus annually.
They have 3000 Regus Offices and 2.5 million members so that equates to 0.7p per person per week on milk and they think this a lot of money at the expense of pissing off the people paying their bills.
I could go on but I value my time. Just do not make the same mistake as we did.
DO NOT USE REGUS!!!!!
p.s Regus, I will remove this review if we get our entire deposit back.
Detailed below are points all prospective tenants need to be aware of:
The centre as a whole has sub standard management, reception rarely greet you often being ignored.
The centre staff would enter our offices without permission even while we were having phone calls with clients etc. A true lack of respect and privacy for an FCA regulated business.
The staff would return post to the sender if the company name was slightly different, one time a cheque was enclosed for over £30,000 for payment for our clients insurance policy which therefore couldn’t be renewed causing the client to be off cover and exposed for their multi million pound assets which if an incident had occurred would have been Regus responsibility, this is unacceptable and a pure lack of any kind of accommodation. No compensation or apology for this.
Irregular heating, often breaking so it was either too hot or too cold. One day boiling at 26 degrees the next day freezing at 16 degrees, I had a thermometer in our office to show this. No compensation or apology for this. It is still broken by the way.
I got 3 punctures in my car tyres that cost £400 each, I was reassured the car park was monitored for debris, clearly this was a lie. I have photographic evidence of getting a puncture at the office. No compensation or apology for this.
A forced and unwanted office move from first floor to ground floor with under 24 hours notice disrupting our business significantly. No compensation or apology for this.
Batteries dying on the door leaving us locked out for hours. A major disruption to our business not being able to answer calls, no access to the computers etc. No compensation or apology for this.
When we moved offices, late fees were taken when Regus was at fault not us, took us 2 whole days to decipher the complex billing system. Regus admitted fault and refunded the late fees which took two weeks to receive. Wasting my staff time costing me money when they should’ve been doing actual work. No compensation or apology for this.
Parking tickets issued with no warning the parking attendants started working again after lockdown. Spending time asking for the parking firm to void the tickets. No compensation or apology for this.
Forced to buy food from the canteen, not allowed to eat our own, healthier, food in the dining areas. Forced to eat lunch in the communal office areas while other members worked.
Our guests were told to leave communal areas and could not be there. Unacceptable.
The men's toilets were filthy, most cubicles out of order, other cubicles left with no toilet paper, dirty and often not flushed. Never cleaned properly. Not even any antibacterial soap provided or alcohol gel supplied in the toilets during a pandemic!
The women's toilets. The cleanliness/lack of toiler roll. On one of my teams my first week there a wooden beam fell off the wall and hit her head! No compensation or apology for this.
The cleaners/bin situation - they stopped taking our bins out and hardly cleaned or hoovered.
The centre removed all alcohol gel from the whole place.
Car park spaces were often double parked in the front car park leaving little space for others. They didn’t get tickets though!
Now Regus are withholding my £1000 deposit as a ransom and demanding the £673 restoration cost to cover cleaning when we haven’t been in the ground floor office very long so it is in identical condition as we received it. Unjustified.
