I would highly recommend Optimax Maidstone for eye treatment my multifocal lens implants surgery went really well all staff were fantastic on the day of surgery, consultation, aftercare, especially Nikita who called to check on me on the day of surgery and a few days later. Dr Mr Wisam Muen was excellent made me feel relaxed during surgery and the results after surgery are excellent exactly what I was hoping for!

Absolutely wonderful results after 1 day. I elected to have refractive lens replacement on both eyes to counter my presbyopia. My goal was to be able see a golf score card and also where the ball landed. I'm amazed at the results and can't believe the improvement at 56 that I am able to text, see all the information on my sat nav and see finally see HD on my TV. Highly recommended this team at Maidstone and special praise goes to Nikita, Aimee and Dr Muen.
Update .....played golf and can see the score card and the ball so its worked a treat 👌

I needed to wear glasses all the time and could not use contact lenses. I decided to bite the bullet and went to Optimax Maidstone for my initial consultation for lens replacement surgery. I was given all the necessary information about the treatment, and was so confident about the surgery and staff that I opted to have both eyes done on the same day.
Aftercare was outstanding, and the results achieved in restoring my vision absolutely amazing. I am so pleased and will recommend this Clinic and this treatment to everyone.

My experience with Optimax at the Maidstone Branch went above and beyond my expectations from my first Eye appointment and then onto surgery.
The service I received was fantastic along with the aftercare.
The staff are very polite and helpful with any questions that I asked and there attitude to help was always 100% I am very happy with the result of my Eye Surgery and would highly recommend to others. Thank you to all the staff involved at the Maidstone clinic for making this a very comfortable procedure and gaining my eyesight back without the need for glasses.

While I may be able to read without glasses and see distance comfortably, I haven’t ended up with the promised “see clearly at every distance”. Top up laser surgery was mentioned at one point but later I was told that one eye no longer warranted it and then I was discharged without further mention. I’m not sure that I would have trusted any other interference with my eyes but was prepared to discuss it.
I still need glasses for some intermediate vision and have some astigmatism. I was repeatedly assured that the multifocal lenses suggested would correct my astigmatism and short sight and give me good vision at every distance. Not as good as wearing varifocals which gave me great vision!
Originally short-sighted, I wasn’t warned I would lose my near sight for any distance closer than reading. I can no longer see small details close up and even cutting my fingernails is difficult. Everything nearer than 40 cm is blurred even in good light.
Outside or in very bright light indoors I can see ok, thanks to several new lamps. But in a normal living room with comfortable lighting, nothing is clearly defined.
A serious handicap is seeing multiple haloes, rings of light, around any lights outdoors (car lights, streetlights etc). This is especially bad at night but also present in daytime. I specifically asked about this but was assured by the surgeon that unless I did a considerable amount of night driving it wasn’t a significant problem. After a year, it is just as bad and I have had to learn to manage driving with this horrible distraction.
I have discomfort with the lighting in some buildings, particularly supermarkets and other shops. I also have to use eye drops twice daily, presumably for ever, to counter dry eyes and improve my vision.
My other warning would be over the poor preparation given regarding the recovery process. “You will probably be given the “all clear” to drive the following day and should be back at work after a few days” implies that normal life will resume rapidly. Yes, I was told I could drive the next day at the check-up because my distance vision was sufficiently good. When I tried to drive I found that I had no intermediate vision and couldn’t read the instruments on the dashboard at all! That took 3-4 weeks to appear. No intermediate vision is quite a handicap for a piano teacher! The next month consisted of severe headaches, tiredness, fear and regret. Gradually things began to improve but far from being discharged after 3 months I continued to be monitored for a year. That does imply my case was slower than normal but who knows? Statistics are not available.
The last year has been a long journey of coming to a place of accepting an irreversible change to my sight and life. Yes, I can function most of the time without glasses which is nice. But I struggle with the loss of near sight, good vision in dim light and halo-free driving. I could be angry about the false picture I was presented with to persuade me to have the surgery but I prefer to choose acceptance and the peace it brings. I hope others have better results than me.
I think the company should have the courage to find out more about the reality of life after surgery and present accurate risks to potential clients. I was fobbed off when I requested percentage risks when querying clauses on the consent form and assured again by the surgeon that I would be able to see clearly at every distance.
While my sight has been repeatedly tested in the normal way, the clinic has never been interested in all these other quality of life issues. The questionnaires completed at the early check-ups were multiple choice and superficial. This explains why they can’t give figures for possible things going wrong. They haven’t asked and don’t know what I’m coping with so can blithely tell others that they’ll be fine. All these issues have been reported to the optician but whether any record is made I have no idea. This was the opportunity offered to give feedback...

Having had the RLE procedure at the Maidstone Branch of Optimax in July I am so happy with the results so far. It definitely has changed my life and I am so grateful every day, being able to see everything so clearly is such a gift
The procedure was very quick, pain free and all pre and after care is so professional, all staff are lovely

The staff at the Maidstone branch are really friendly and welcoming. All my appointments were on time. The day of the surgery was very long, I was waiting for about 5 hours before the surgery which I wasn't expecting. The optician and surgeons were great.
