This was my first time to City Eyes and I'm so glad I went! I had been concerned about my eye health and with my doctor also advising that I get tested, I was a bit nervous to say the least - but all my worries were abated when I met Charles the lovely and calming eye doctor who thoroughly went through my concerns and medical history. I decided to get the full eye testing package, for which I'm very happy that I did. The diagnostic machines are second to none - they detect everything with no pain and are actually quite fun! Charles explained every exam and reassured me throughout. I got the results immediately - along with peace of mind. I would 100% recommend City Eyes. Charles also instantly followed up with my eye treatment plan and all the photos necessary for my doctor. I am very happy and would recommend City Eyes to anyone. Their reception / booking staff were also very friendly and super efficient. A very professional and friendly business! Thank you !

I have been going to City Eyes since 2018 and I have always been provided with a flawless service. An impressive plethora of high tech equipment was used during my comprehensive eye examination. As an anxious patient, Charles and Belinda have never failed to make me feel at ease and always take the time to explain in detail what they are doing. The rest of the team are always going above and beyond to provide a great experience. I couldn't recommend City Eyes more!

I had a lovely experience here! Charles and his team are very friendly and eager to help. I have worn Ortho K lenses for more than a decade but have never had a pair as good as the ones Charles designed for me. I would highly recommend coming here if you are looking for the best optician in town.

I have been diagnosed with keratoconus on my left eye since 2005. Ever since I was diagnosed, I wore traditional “small” hard GP contact lenses. While those generally helped with correcting my vision, they occasionally resulted in high irritation and sometimes infections in the left eye. Only someone who has worn hard GP lenses would understand how painful those can be…

It was only thanks to the practice of Dr. Babumba that all of the negative side effects became history. I had been looking for a keratoconus specialist in London for a while and (after a few not so successful tries elsewhere) I found Dr. Babumba’s practice by doing Google search.

I first visited Dr. Babumba in 2017 and was introduced to an advanced version of “larger” hard contact lenses - a special type that does not make contact with the cornea when placed in the eye. I decided to give them a go. One of the best decisions I have made!

Dr. Charles Babumba and Dr. Belinda Babumba took incredible care to make sure they create the perfectly fitting lens which took numerous visits over a period of probably two months. They made a trial lens and went to great lengths to make sure they teach me how to live with the new lens.

I was impressed by the care, patience, professionalism and attention that they gave to me and my case. Whilst I have to admit that it took a considerable amount of time for me to get used to putting the large contact lens in my eye, once I got accustomed to it, the comfort is so much superior that I would never ever even contemplate going back to the traditional “small” GP hard lens.

In more than 4 years, I have not had a single case of infected or irritated eye!

Recently, I also recommended Dr. Babumba’s practice to my brother.

If you need the best specialist in keratoconus and hard lenses fitting, City Eyes Opthalmic Opticians is the right place.

Thank you Charles and Belinda!

My family member attended this optometrists and was charged almost £400 for a basic eye exam. If you look into the 18+ Point Optical Health Examination described on their website you will see it is nothing more than you would find at a local specsavers, and the equipment they use is not 'top of the range' as described, but the standard of most optician practices. My family member went in wanting a simple cycloplegic refraction and did not receive it - she got some meibomian gland scans and told she had dry eye which she was not symptomatic of. Looking further into Charles and Belinda's credentials, they have no obvious extended qualifications past an undergraduate degree. They obviously have experience, but how they can charge so much for the same exam you would get at any other opticians is beyond me. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I went to City Eyes, since I experienced low vision a couple of months ago. When I visited, Charles conducted a range of tests on specialised machines, most of which I have not seen before, despite having been to multiple opticians before. Meanwhile, he was very friendly and listened to all of my concerns, answering in detail. The detailed tests were really worth it, since they definitively showed that I do not have a genetic eye problem which could have appeared in me. On my next visit, I decided to move to using lenses instead of glasses and Charles spent nearly an hour, helping me to put a demo pair of lenses on. While I am terrible at putting lenses, he was super patient and kind, encouraging me until we got the job done. Overall, I had a great experience and sincerely recomment City Eyes!

My wife had an eye issue last year and visited this practice, they checked her eyes and provided a practical non-invasive resolution. In the end, the issue cleared up and she is very happy. I then booked an exam for myself and I must say I was very impressed. The practitioner and his daughter (also an Optometrist) took very good care to ensure I had the best service. I visited 5 or 6 different machines to check each and every aspect of the eye. In the end, Charles recommended certain lifestyle changes and recommendations to help promote my eye health. I can absolutely recommend this practice to anyone looking for a thorough eye exam.

I have been a patient of Charles and Belinda at City Eyes for several years now and I am not being hyperbolic when I say that the service they provide is quite possibly the best in the country.

City Eyes is where you should go if you want to receive a complete picture of the health of your eyes. I have been to several high street opticians before and the level of detail that Charles goes into in checking the health of your eyes is orders of magnitude greater. It almost seems like every time I visit there is some new piece of cutting-edge machinery that has been added to his arsenal.

It has also become abundantly clear to me over the years that Charles is eager to get the best result for the patient. I found City Eyes because I needed bespoke Ortho-K contact lenses. Charles treats the design of these lenses and everything he does like an art form, refining things until they are just right. After finding that my vision could be improved further after a first design, Charles redesigned the lenses again at no extra cost to me so that I would have the best vision I could.

On balance, it is true that the service can be expensive when compared to high street opticians, but for that you are getting treatment from a specialist, with a much more comprehensive view of your eyes, and with excellent after care.

I routinely recommend City Eyes to people when I talk about my Ortho-K lenses and I hope to continue to see them, pun intended, for several years to come.
