Great outdoor space. Used to have a hilltop fort. Wooded copse and an old turf maze are still unique plus stairs up the side. Great views of the Winchester area.

If you are staying in Winchester and looking for a great walk that you don't need to drive or transit to- this is it! Give yourself 2 hours and an ambitious step goal. Suitable for people that are not afraid of stairs, great views butterflies (in summer) and a good cup of coffee or icecream at the end.
It's a circular route that you can make longer or shorter depending on your entry point along the Itchen.
Amazing views of the countryside and Winchester itself and you feel the history of the place.
Peaceful, pack a lunch and have a picnic at the top. The kids and dogs will love it but if you'd rather just have some peace and quiet as a solo hiker, there's lots to be found.

Great views of Winchester Cathedral and surrounding countryside. Footpaths through the downs and along the river, with interesting sites enroute.

Good place for a good 2 hour walk and the hill is easily accessible due to wooden steps, good for dog walks but beware of cattle livestock roaming free if dog off lead

Beautiful views and plenty of space to picnic. Small cafe on the bridge. No bins so take all rubbish home. Lovely wildflowers and plants.

A fantastic hill walk, with a elevation of ~160m. There are steps on the north and south face of the hill, with the south facing steps being less steep and offering views of adjacent hills. It is dog friendly and has gated fencing so dogs are off the lead.

At the bottom of the hill is the Handlebar café which has facilities and offers a restful stop after the walk.
