Great park which my four year old loves! A tunnel under the road to walk through, plenty of green space, the river, ducks to feed (buy duck food at the Central Park Cafe for 50p a bag), fountains, a viaduct with trains going past regularly, and a great play area with equipment suitable for all ages up to 12. Nice and close to the city centre, too!

I love this place. I walk the dog here twice a day; I run here often. It's a well maintained, peaceful park in the centre of Chelmsford, 2 mins walk from the High Street, 5 mins walk from the station. There are formal gardens, playing fields, children's playground, and a lake with fountains. The Chelmsford-London mainline runs through it on top of a beautiful Victorian arched bridge that spans the park. The Central park Cafe is open all year round - a lovely place to sit outside (dogs welcome) in view of the gardens and lake.
You can walk through parkland right into the centre of town one way, the other it connects to Admiral Park, allowing a long parkland walk across central-west Chelmsford.

A really spacious park slap bang in the centre of town. Lovely trees, flower beds, kids play areas, skate boarding ramps, a lake with fountains, a river running along one side and a Cafe to name but a few attractions. It was a sunny Sunday when I was there along with many others enjoying the fresh air. There are plenty of benches to sit and take a rest, although many groups were sat on the grass eating picnics or ice creams or just soaking up the sunshine. I will definitely add this to my list of "nice walking places". I remember going here when I was a child and later as a teenager when the Chelmsford Carnival Fair was held there. Special memories for me in Central Park.

As per the name Central Park is right in the centre of Chelmsford and is a very large lovely park space perfect for couple, families etc.

In the main part near the town centre there is a large children’s play area as well as a large lake with ducks, and a nearby café with plenty of outdoor seating. It is very well kept with lovely flower beds in the section near the back of Primark and has a separate cycle lane in that park away from walkers.

In the area near M&S there is a picnic area, a war memorial and lovely war memorial related benches to sit on (see photos). In the summer months there is nearly always an ice-cream van right at the end of the park by M&S.

Also in the summer months festivals, carnivals, funfairs and other entertainment take place on the large area near the roundabout (near the duck pond).

If you walk through Central Park you’ll find it links up with Admirals Park/Tower Gardens and provides a park walk all the way from the town centre by M&S right through Admirals Park and on to Writtle. Great place to have a circular 10k+ walk.

Our first visit to Central park to see The in the parks festival featuring The dualers , badmanners, DOGP , Aswad , Special kinda madness and The style councillors.. it was a fantastic day.. The park is easily found and is very beautiful on its own merit with a centre piece of a lake and water feature .. There's an added bonus of a carpark only 5 mins walk away which is free all weekend.. highly recommended.

So lucky to have this sizeable Park in the middle of Chelmsford. Great space for kids, dog walkers, runners and cyclists (who don't want to play with the hellish traffic). Gardens, lake and so many trees.....great place to kick through autumn leaves.

Lovey area to walk around in, nice little central café to grab something to eat and drink. Lots of directions to have a look around, field spaces for football and rugby, I have also heard that there are events here from time to time so that’s something I’ll defiantly check out next time

Very good size for the town center. Do have pond, fountain and river all along the way. A lot of picnic tables and benches. Skating are, kids zone, outdoor tennis and basketball courts. Coffee shop, ice cream van usually there through the day. Clean and looked after. Wonderful to go for a walk or simply chill out.
