A nice little find right up close to the gardens near the cafe. A wonderful historical story here and worth the visit as you pass by from the shops.

Some reviewers here appear to have mistakenly reviewed the wrong place, judging by the pictures they’ve posted! So to clarify ... this is a walled garden lying in the shadows of St Albans Cathedral - not the walled beer garden of a nearby bar!

This garden is part of the cathedral grounds, and back in the 14th Century the monks cultivated this land, turning it into a fruitful vineyard - hence the origin of its name.

Ancient oaks and yews looks down on the many benches where you can sit, relax and listen to the wind blowing through their leaves. Mulberry, lavender and rosemary bushes add colour and fragrance to this calming oasis. Despite being so close to the High Street, it feels private and secluded.

A Christmas Market occupies this space in winter but, for me, I much prefer it when it’s calm and tranquil.

Beautiful park to sit and relax in. Brought our own picnic and watched the world go by, wandering down to the pond to see the wildlife.
Don't visit st albans without a visit to these stunning gardens

To say it was a magical place would be the understatement of the century. Just one second after setting foot in this garden of Eden, I felt like I was Tyson Fury approaching the ring, knowing I would be victorious in any pursuit of mine. This place certainly turned my frown upside-down.

Lovely warm sunny Easter Saturday afternoon. Sat in the peaceful garden with a view of the Abbey close by.

Lovely little hidden garden next to the abby, but seating is at a premium so on busy days it can be hard to find a bench to sit on.

It's a walked garden and a nice place to sit outside and have an Al fresco lunch. Convenient for St Alban's market with its street food stalls and many and diverse cafés doing takeaways. Take your own camping stool or sit on the grass. It's right next to the Cathedral which has a public access toilet.
