A heritage oasis in the the midst of industry and redevelopment.

This quiet, almost secret, riverside park originates from early 20th Century philanthropism. It is surrounded by wharves and heavy industry and borders on the local residential redevelopments. There is a plan to open access to the east when Royal Wharf completes a further stage of building work.

- A small but mature and varied aboretum
- Very well tended mature roses
- Well watered football pitch
- Working free water fountain
- Hosting the gates from the nearby Harland and Wolff shipbuilders
- Riverside benches

Apparently the Tate and Lyle football team used to practice and compete here back in t'day.

Lyle Park is a small park that occupies a site overlooking the Thames. The design of the park changed over the years, and it now contains a set of ornamental wrought iron gates, originally the entrance gates to Harland & Wolff Ltd, ship builders, a reminder of the industrial heritage of the area.
It was opened on 1924 by Sir Leonard Lyle, JP on land that was gifted to West Ham by the Golden Syrup manufacturer Abraham Lyle & Son (because the factory was near the park).

Great park, unfortunately risks being ruined by over developed neighbouring area.

Lovely place to go for a walk and feel closer to nature. Trees seem to be very old, which gives the place a magic atmosphere. The gardens are very well taken care of. Just hope that visitors respect the place and don’t drop litter there.

A hidden park that is perfect to get away from the surrounding residential homes and main road. Secretly entered via the tennis courts and playground, it unmasks a pleasant beauty. A small pathway of trees leads out to an open field used for football or picnics. A few benches are scattered around for rest. Leading further up to a mini garden of trees, plants and flowers. Ending with benches facing out to the river. Its beauty is in simplicity and a sense of calmness. A hidden park that hopefully continues to be a best-kept secret.

Almost hidden and invisible from the main road but great small park with riverfront views, slightly spoilt now with the industrial site to the west side which reclaims soil / concrete etc. and there is an almost continual flow of lorries and concrete mixers passing on the road.
