Having seen the small example of Sand Sculptures on Weymouth Beach on the last few visits I decided to visit Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth where a larger amount of Sand Sculptures are on display there. If you love the sand sculptures on the beach, you will absolutely love Sand World. Founded by local businessman David Hicks and Mark Anderson, Weymouth’s resident sand sculptor and Grandson of Fred Darrington, who together clock up an impressive 95 years of carving out of the famous Weymouth sands. In it’s eighth season, Sand World is a unique art gallery with a difference. Sand World in Weymouth, Dorset, is the UK's only all weather Sand Sculpture Festival. It is home to awe inspiring sculptures made entirely from Weymouth sand and water, some the size of a double decker bus. A different theme each year and ongoing projects throughout the season ensure that each trip to our attraction is a unique one.
We showcase enormous, breathtaking, life-sized works of art, created entirely out of sand and water by visiting world class, award winning sculptors. 2018 theme is TV & Film and will feature an enormous Star Wars scene, Game of Thrones, The Jungle Book, Super heroes & X-Factor to name but a few. Once inspired by the amazing art, the exciting bit happens; you get to have a go at creating your own masterpiece, be it a R2-D2, Spiderman or a Snake - anything is possible, as we have skilled staff and the necessary tools to guide you. There is a small cafe there along with a child’s section for making Sand castles etc.

The park itself is worth a visit there are enough attractions to spend a whole day here and its right on the sea Front section of Weymouth. Lodmoor Country Park is just a 15 minute stroll from the Esplanade and through Greenhill Gardens. You'll discover a host of independent attractions providing something of interest to entertain everyone. Lovely place to wonder around with the dogs, although I couldn't find a poo bin after I picked up after ours...not even in the car park, so they do need to put bins up for conscientious dog owners!
This was a great area for bird watchers and photographers as well.
The beach is literally just over the road if you wanted to extend your walk out.

We went to Sandworld within the park. Fantastic place. I think it has closed for winter now but definitely worth a visit when it reopens.
