It good to see that the local community have taken on the garden. It's a lot tidier than previously. However, it doesn't look very inviting to walk in and visit. I went on December so some of the topiary is a bit overgrown- I am sure it's better in summer.

All garden work is done by volunteers. It's small but peaceful and there are 2 benches. Beautiful arrangements except there are ignorant people who can't be bothered to pick up THEIR DOG'S POOH!

Boring nothing festival about it, so why the name? Had wonderful willow sculptures etc but apparently unsafe😏 according to the council😂. Get a grip🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

In reply to Cheryl Spencer, the gardens were opened in 1951 and named in honour of the Festival of Britain that took place that year. Just a couple of minutes research would have provided you with the answer.

A lovely space with shrubs and at the moment the bulbs are coming up and looking great. Popular with dog walkers, and benches to sit and enjoy the views.

Just take time to sit and relax in The Festival Gardens. Listen to the bird song, take the sun on your face. Top of the world - looking down on East Mill and the Derwent Valley. Just another great place in Derbyshire.
