The Helm

Nice little walk just south of Kendal nr the Oxenholme railway station, the Station Hotel is at one end and The Punchbowl at the other end

If you are near Kendal this is a stunning walk with really excellent views for very little walking. Start at the excellent Punch Bowl pub (or at Oxenholme Station) and a short steep pull will give you a full panorama of the South lakes and Howgills.

This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. It was opposite our B&B.. but this is a must on the itinerary when you're in lake district!

Nice place with peaceful view...you can walk upto this place if you have like 2-3 hours to kill before your train at Oxenholm.

Stunning views I've the bay to the south, great for sunset. Great views north to the mountains. Good trails all what around

Lots of different paths to take, great views over kendal and towards sandside beach. Drop over the hill to the back of the helm to see the small tarn!

Always a nice walk. Many routes to explore up and down the helm. Lovely views over kendal.

Can get muddy and slippy in bad weather.
