Sandy Banks Local Nature Reserve

The small local nature area, good for walking dogs and some exercise, and looking for wildlife.

This is the area I walk my dog Grace twice a day. I also bring my grandson on a nature walk. No two days are the same. It's like a bit of the countryside on your doorstep. Nb it's blackberry picking time. Loads of them too.

This use to be my favourite place for the last six years. Beautiful and tranquil. Use to take my gran-daughter on Sandy Banks Nature Area. She loved it. Few months ago a lady was attacked by two men. Luckily she got away. No go area for me. Heartbroken

This is not a 'Nature Area' it's more like just land the council cant be bothered with keep clearing up fly tips. It's got huge potential but no money is spent on the place. Very disappointing.

Small nature reserve on Bestwood Park Estate with great views and also seats. I live nearby and often walk through the reserve enroute from the shops. Very pleased this area was never built on.

Just to be clear, Sandy Banks isn't named after a famous local, but because it has banks which are to all intents and purposes, sandy. Wasps love the place, and for good reason: swatting was banned here in 1981, and punishable by hefty fines. A win for all Jasper fans out there, I'm sure you will agree.

Broken glass, dog mess everywhere, overgrown footpaths and steps in som places not well lit during the evening

Dark and dismal after 3pm and the entrences snd perimeters need clearing of overgrown weedsand thorny shrubs
