After coming to the area for 20 years to visit Aberglasney this was my first visit to Gelli Aur. I had no idea it was there, it really is Carmarthenshire's best kept secret. The house and park have huge potential, with substantial funding this would be a major visitor attraction. As it stands the house is closed, proper signage and information is desperately needed and everything does feel a little run down and in need of attention. But there are plenty of positives, the Arboretum is magnificent, the views wonderful, nice walks and friendly staff in the cafe. Plus it's free to visit, just car parking to pay for. Well worth supporting this place.

Recommend a visit but don't expect a National Trust experience. This place has more soul! A gallant group of volunteers are resolved to reclaim the house and arboretum from dereliction. The house has amazing views across the Towy valley and the arboretum has some of the most spectacular trees - check out the Western Red Cedars! I would liken the place to a princess waiting to be roused from an enchanted slumber by a heritage lottery fund prince 🙂 Once you have had a wander do visit the cafe, very welcoming and friendly staff and a lovely cup of coffee.

Beautiful arboretum. Some fabulous trees and so well looked after. The park part which is free I didn't visit. Cafe is dog friendly with treats on hand, with some lovely looking bome made cakes for humans. Friendly staff who are happy to help. I will visit again, I'm sure!

I have been taken to visit Gelli Aur multiple times as a young child, and now I'm older, the place still has me in awe. A little gem tucked away, Golden Grove is brilliant for kids and adults alike, with a play area, conservatory that serves food, and a lovely walk through the on site forest next to the mansion.

Brilliant, love it

The most spectacular visit to a very special gem on our doorstep here in Carmarthenshire. @goldengrovegelliaur

Today I strolled around the magical land at Gelli Aur, a place I was taken to as a young child and have very fond memories of which were reignited by todays visit, especially the time I fell into their pond and was given a jumper to replace my trousers 🤣!

Thank you to the lovely team in the cafe for the freshly made omelette and extensive knowledge of the land and future project plans!

Would love to hear anyone else’s memories of this magical place x

Lovely log fire within the conservatory. Fantastic freshly cooked mince pies with brandy butter and cream and a wonderful cup of tea. Pleasant and friendly service.
Nice bird feeder visible from within the conservatory but unfortunately no deer.
Car park charge of £2.50 for 4 hours.

An absolutely brilliant cafe and great for walking the dog. The food is second to none in the area, a real treat to find somewhere so remote. Staff very friendly too.
