Nice sized carpark, lovely views over the reservoir. Easy walk around part of the reservoir but the path has been blocked off just past the Weir. It would be nice if you could go a bit further. There are plenty of wooden walkways and bridges that children find fun. We managed with a pushchair, just be careful of stinging nettles. Still a nice short walk for a summers evening.

Small to medium sized car park that's free. People also park along the road coming into it.
There are no toilets, or cafe here I'm afraid.
But... you can walk to Staunton Harold reservoir easily from here that does have facilities. ( around half an hour )
Postcode is LE65 1RR, although this postcode in a sat nav will take you to what looks like an old building... continue down that road to the end, its a dead end so you cannot miss it.
Lovely walks from here in both directions, taking you across woods, fields and to the lake.
The walks are pram and dog friendly. Many people have their dogs off lead too.
Occasional fields are marked, dogs on leads if required.

Great place. Clean tidy. A great place for a walk. You can do some bird watching and there's plenty of places you can sit and enjoy it.

Update: charge from £3.5 for 4 hours or free if you are national trust member

Didn’t park my car here, but I think it’s worth to park here for the view

You need to be a national trust member to park for free or download an app and pay to park. Unfortunately it means that there are lots of cars parked on the road leading to the carpark causing a major road safety hazard. It's only a matter of time before a child or a dog gets run over. But hey as long as the carpark generates revenue.

Super convenient place to park for a walk. The walks around the area are really the highlight rather than the car park, you can also park on the side of the road for free if you don't want to pay!

Good free car park, but it gets full by 11am. The walk down to the Res is v.muddy and slopes down hill, so bring grippy walking boots.
The walk around the water and up the slopes and steps to Calke Abbey isn't suitable for pushchairs. I saw one woman seriously struggling in the distance.
On a fair to nice day it gets very busy by 10:30.. so go early or late, if that's not your thing.
Quite a few seats around the water but after that there aren't any until you hit the cafe at the Abbey.

Beautiful place to watch the birds - so many different types to see! It was quite busy but still plenty of spaces available to park. Also it's free parking. Lovely scenery, very pretty.
