Lovely walk. The tunnel closure is clearly stated on the website - on your phone it’s below the map, on a desktop beside it. The detour does go on some busy roads but the tunnel is open during the daytime between 1st April and 30 September. Parking is available at Wyedean school. The dive centre has been closed and no longer allows parking so head to Wyedean school or Tintern. Check out the website for full info.

Joined the walk at Wyedean school in Sedbury and simply followed the path from the car park. The route is well signposted from path to road and path again. The tunnel was empty of people so quite spooky. Low level lighting good enough to see. Please note, it is cold in there despite being warm outside.

Lovley ride, good parking at the start, plenty of options for refreshments at Tintern

The closing of the National Diving and Activity Centre has meant the closing of the only, easy, access to the Tidenham Tunnel. This is a great disappointment! We were directed to Wyedean School car park as the alternative start point. Not a good solution. The journey from there to the tunnel is not only long but also involves traveling along a significant section of very narrow, pretty busy road before you reach the old railway line heading for the tunnel. Sad situation. Let's hope someone reopens the activity centre.

This is a fantastic walk, steeped woth history, nature and accessibility for prams, wheelechairs etc. The tunnel is a big part of walk and worth the walk. If your around at dusk you will see bats starting to fly iin and out of the tunnel. The Wire bridge is currently closed and alternative routes are posted. Gloucestershire council in their wisdom re routes part of a walking route bybthe quarry due to an urgent repair needed. It is very steep and risk of slipping is high which can reault in serious injury from tumbling back down the path.

Enjoyable trail from Chepstow/Sedbury to Tintern. I started from Wyedean School which then involved a very short walk on a quiet lane before joining the shared trail. Is picturesque and, obviously, includes the highlight of a 1km walk through a railway tunnel! If cycling, the section north of the tunnel is a little bumpy. Can also join from the Diving Centre, I think full trail is about 5miles. Can veer off to Offa's Dyke trail when in Tintern. Will do again.
