Lovely family walk upto the dam its about 1.8miles from the car park and is wheelchair friendly. There is toilets there and the car park is free. But no bins so please take your rubbish home! There was a coffee/cake/ice cream van there that did beautiful coffees and also Vegan friendly. Had a selection of amazing homemade cakes. I paid £2.70 for a latte.

Wonderful walk. Very accessible if you can get there and a good, quiet walk on Dartmoor. Met a lovely 81 year old riding her bike and her dog. The reservoir was spectacular due to the heavy rain and very moody in the mist.

This is a lovely walk from Shipley Bridge to Avon Dam. It is nicely paved road/path, easy for our daughters wheelchair. We needed the power pack though as it is quite a climb. Very easy going back down!!! We couldn't get up to look at the main body of water with the chair, but there are rocky paths that go there. Well catered for at the car park with toilets & van selling drinks, ice creams, etc. Car parking for us was £2 for 2 hours, there were other options. We paid cash, but I think Ringo parking was available.

Clean toilets, oval friendly pigs, easy walk, great place for the kids to swim further up. Spent a couple of hours wading and swimming. The kids said it was the highlight of the day. 🤣

Two mile walk to the dam along tarmac access road, pp, (no cars) with tumbling waterfalls and moorland views. Fantastic.

We parked at Shipley Bridge to visit the Avon Dam. The roads up to the car park are windy and narrow, but fine if you take them with care. (They are much like a lot of the quaint Devon roads.)
The car park is quite small, but we got parked ok. The walk is very picturesque and is about two miles one way. It is gently sloping and tarmacked up to the bottom of the dam. To get to the top of the dam is very steep and rugged, but worth it for the views. At the car park is a catering van run by a very friendly couple. They serve very nice coffee. Well worth a visit.

Good place to start your walks. Car park can get busy so get there early. Toilets on site and a van selling drinks and delicious cakes. Easy tarmac path nearly to the top of the dam roughly a 30 minute walk from carpark to top depending on your fitness level. Once at the dam you can enjoy the views or carry on your walk. Once past the dam, the moor is very quiet and you don't see many people. We carried on our walk to Red Lake which was quiet and beautiful. Fabulous views at all times.

Pay and display but with no to little phone coverage seems a little unfair! But reasonable price for all day parking once you have climbed a hill to get reception!
