Westmorland Shopping Car Park

HELP! SOS! I am currently locked in the car park! I arrived at around 6:45pm after eating at a local mexican joint. After which I needed to use the toilet facility ASAP. But with no toilet roll i had to be creative which took me to about 7:05pm which to my horror, means that the car park is LOCKED SHUT with no staff around to let me out! I have no minutes left on my phone and cant call for help. I managed to flag a passer by down outside to call the emergency number for the car park which is now a dissused number and the passer by just left me here!
I have been locked in here for 2 hours now and no one has walked past in some time I have no way of getting out until the morning and my phone is about to die!
What kind of sbambolic disgrace of a car park shuts and locks up? And at 7PM on a friday no less!
I have never been so let down by a concil facility in my life!

Worst layout and signage ever!!No card payment! Wouldn’t recommend this car park to anyone couldn’t find the car recommend leaving a trail of string back to your car 🤣

Worst car park I've ever been in. Terrible layout, narrow spaces, many with pillars that prevent opening passenger door. Insufficient pedestrian safe walkways and no card payments.

A horrible terrible parking garage. Worst I've seen in the entire country. If you like feeling like you're in a never ending maze, then this is the place for you. They conveniently placed a support beam every 3 spots that takes up part of the ones on either side, so I hope you're really good at parking because almost every single spot is miniature because of this stupid design. Paying is a nightmare along with everything else.

Best to avoid this car park if you have anything larger than a Mini, the spaces are so narrow. Also the payment machines don't take cards and there's a high chance of the machine not having enough change to allow you to pay with a note...

A positive discouragement to anyone from ever going anywhere near Kendal, the Westmorland Shopping Centre multi-storey car park seems intended for surviving vehicles from the era of the model T Ford of over a century ago, when cars were half the width of today's. Council planners responsible for its design and couldn't-care-less elected Council members who signed off on it have a lot to answer for, because no amount of masquerading as 'Local Guides' on here and awarding their car park 4 or 5 stars as well as laughably glowing reviews is going to change the concrete reality that this is one of the worst -- if not the worst -- Council-owned multi-storey car parks in Britain. We were in Kendal yesterday, a first time visit in 30 years, and definitely our last; until such time as South Lakeland District Council shows collective gumption enough to properly serve the needs of local businesses and the local economy with a Park N Ride scheme for incoming shoppers, the hopeless traffic-jammed streets of Kendal and its appalling town centre multi-storey car park are best avoided.
