Vicarage Gardens Pay & Display Car Park

Card didn’t work on the machine so luckily scraped together some coins from the floor of my car.
Car park gets very busy and I noticed the queues get long for the two machines.
If you’re not in Conwy long, there is parking at the gift shop around the corner for £1 an hour - pay in-store.

I was one of four coaches that came here for a day trip, unbeknownst to me the car park only takes coins or card!
So armed with a £20 I asked in the "car park shop" for change, they declined, they pointed out the attendant having their breakfast at the same shop. I asked them if they had change, "no, try the tourist information in town" was the answer..
So, up I went tried to buy something, "you just want change for the car park don't you?" Came the response.. and she refused to let me buy something!!!! Saying this happens too often..
So back to the car park. Another lady attendant at the machine, i explain my predicament to her, "so what you going to do" she said!?? "What can I do? Leave I guess?" I replied.
"Right answer!" She exclaimed and wished me a good day sarcastically!she likes her job a little too much!!

Then just as I was going a friendly coach driver came and paid for me. I will pay him back later.
Anyway. My point is, in a car park with attendants in abundance and a cafe/shop, and more than one person struggling for change. Surely it's not much to ask for the council to supply said shop with some coins and a helpful assistant to hand out with a friendly manor?
First impressions of Conway council staff on the ground,unhelpful and unwilling to help.. I won't be paying to stop there again or take another coach in to spend their money.

Beware of over zealous parking attendants who gladly issue parking tickets on behalf of Conwy Council, as was the case for us despite being correctly parked (surprise surprise our fine was cancelled shortly after we challenged it).

One star rating for being centrally placed, but with such a bad reputation for parking fines, which we didn't know at the time, it really is having a significant negative impact on tourism (Google it and you'll see many other people reporting the same or similar experiences).

Ticket machines are terribly slow and failed to print my ticket, only gave me a receipt. This was then not accepted by the town council and i was given a £50 fine despite proving my purchase. Dont park here, go to the train station down the road plus its cheaper and can park for longer!

This carpark is directly outside the castle, has a great cafe / ice cream shop there and parking is about £5 for 4 hours or just over.

It's filled up as the day went on, worth getting there a bit earlier in a Saturday to get a space

Download paybyphone app before you get there, to save time, as I didn’t get enough signal in that location and had to join a long queue to pay by cash. The card machine part wasn’t working on any of the machines.

Ok car park , pay and display contactless doesn’t work would advise just take cash

It's a small carpark that is used for visits to the Castle, so it's generally rather full. Standard pay and display setup, enter car reg, guess how long you will stay, pay, take ticket, put on dash/window. Enjoy a nice walk around Conwy and the castle walls before heading to the pub for a pint.
