Gentle Groom

Terrible service,I took my 6 month old Norfolk terrier for his first bath and trim about 6 weeks ago,all seemed okay,so yesterday I took him back for the second time,I was asked what I wanted doing,I said just a trim like last time please.When I went to collect him,I paid and booked another appointment.When Mr Seymour brought my dog to me I was horrified ,I said what have you done ,I asked for a trim! my dogs fur was about an inch all over ,He said I did trim him but he looked scruffy,he looks better now.I put the dog in the car to find his paw was bleeding,I took him back into the salon,Mr Seymour said,he is a sod to have his nails filed,and put some powder on the paw.
After a lot of thought I rang the salon today to cancel my next appointment,I was asked why,I said I was not happy that he had sculpted my dog when I asked for a trim.His reply was if I went back to the salon he still had my dogs fur,how rude of him!
He has a book on dog breeds on his counter,I thought he would know what a Norfolk Terrier should look like,when I said to him Norfolk's couldn't have been in the book ,he put the phone down on me.
Very rude person,I would never go back to him or his salon ,be warned!

I have been taking my dogs to Gentle Groom for years and have complete confidence in them. I started going there when I needed help grooming my elderly border collie, Bess. They were the only groomer I could find at that time who had the equipment required (raising and lowering table, bath with door) to take a larger dog. Bess could be difficult with people she didn’t know, but Steven gained her trust with his kind but firm approach on her first visit and she always behaved perfectly for him. Since then I have taken our Westie on a regular basis, and more recently our collie-corgi cross, who has a long coat with woolly undercoat, which requires regular thinning and trimming. They always look very smart when I pick them up. I’ve always found the guys to be personable and kind and have complete trust in them. I am a professional dog minder and I always recommend Gentle Groom to my customers, especially those with larger dogs. My tip for anyone reading this who has a puppy who will require clipping/grooming: do start placing them on a low table for regular brushing or even just stroking of the whole body, handling paws etc, from a very young age. You can place a towel on your coffee table to make a suitable surface. Do this a couple of times a week. That way your pup will feel much more confident when he has his first clip and your groomer will be able to do his job more easily with great results and a happy more comfortable dog to show for it!

The guy was very welcoming and gave lots of advice trying to get us to stay with him for next cut . Our pup has now been clipped 3 times and this is the worst he’s looked . After getting him home found uneven trimming , ears were still thick and hardly touched , the underside was so badly cut . We will definitely not be going back and stick with pets at home who made our pup look lovely

Can't comment on Grooming itself as our Dog isn't comfortable being crated around other Dogs, so this was a non-starter. One-to-one / mobile groomers might be more appropriate for Dogs like ours. For clarity, it's hardly like they're packing dogs in, they only had two there, and even then that was our own fault by miscommunicating when booking, but a "gentler" approach to our stressed and anxious pooch might have worked better.

So disgusted with the service, firstly greeted with very bad mannered person who was very rude, then when I collected my dog she was very upset and still is. And the staff did not groom her like I had requested. Basically have made a right mess of her. I will never use gentle grooming again 😥

Best groom our labradoodle has had … very friendly and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

They do a great job grooming my poodle and they are always kind and friendly. They are also experts on all things dog and give very good advice. Highly recommended.

Very happy with the service and value you for money. I take two boarder terriers every couple
of months for a wash and stripping every 3/5 months. The dogs are calm and happy and I wouldn’t take them anywhere else!
