Birkdale Neuro Rehabilitation Centre

I've been to endless physios over the years - and followed their instructions. They were all well meaning, and did their best to improve my gait, but, unfortunately, nothing really helped. I've now been going to Birkdale for a year and can say, without hesitation, that my walking is improving. I can't thank them enough for their huge expertise, ability to understand a wide range of complex neurological issues and design a bespoke programme of support which addresses specific problems. Not only have they helped with the physical side of my illness, they provide much needed moral support too!

As an adult with spina bifida, I have struggled with finding a physio therapist who has an in depth knowledge of my condition. As I've become older walking has become significantly more difficult. I had little strength in my calves and suffered from significant neuropathy in both legs and feet. I have struggled with my job as a full time primary school teacher. I had totally lost hope in regaining my mobility and sadly accepted that my quality of life was on the decline.

I have been seeing Farshideh and her team for only 8 months and I can't describe the transformation. They work systematically with a totally holistic and compassionate approach based on research, experience, knowledge and they listen to me. They have helped me source some new orthotics and that has been a game changer as I have orthotics that support my feet, force me into the heel toe rotation and are steadily building my calf muscles (which were dormant for almost 20 years). They are also extremely motivating and the sessions are fun, bespoke and you see progress during and after every session. It has changed my life both physically and emotionally and I will be eternally grateful to them.

Birkdale is a very professional, caring and healing neuro-physiotherapy clinic. It’s physios are all very talented, friendly and experienced. The clinic is fully equipped with the latest electronic and digital tools and has a great gym. Above all it’s a place where you feel hopeful for a recovery and everything is possible. I suffered a serious stroke and my mobility and balance have improved that I now walk unaided. I still suffer with tiredness and dizziness (vestibular) that you have after a stroke but I have been shown everyday techniques to combat these aspects of my condition. Birkdale understood what had happened to me but most importantly they know how to mend me - a slow process of aiding re-wiring in my brain. I am very thankful for Birkdale ❤️

I started attending Birkdale Neuro Rehab around 3 months ago and it was the best decision I could have made!
I suffered from a Spinal cord injury in a car accident 1 year ago which left me wheelchair bound. I have been in and out of hospital and attended many different rehab facilities and met a lot of different physiotherapists however, nowhere compares to Birkdale. The professional treatment and genuine care that I have received at Birkdale is unmatched.
Modern technology like motion sensing devices and Functional electrical stimulation (FES) equipment along with Farshideh’s 40+ years of experience makes Birkdale the top places for neuro rehab in London. On my first assessment Marianne and Farshideh were able to come up with a very effective physio plan. Ever since following the plan and attending Birkdale twice a week my walking distance has increased massively. Not only has my distance increased but also, we have been working on my walking technique which has limited any potential negative long-term effects on my body.
Farshideh and Marianne have also been able to show me different pain-relieving techniques I can use day to day. This has helped me cut down on pain medication. I take little to no medication now.
I am very happy I discovered Birkdale rehab clinic. The staff are the best and really make you feel at ease. They have really encouraged me to push myself. I have a long way to go but I am really excited that I have therapist like Marianne and Farshideh guiding me. I will keep coming to Birkdale for as long as I can and I have no doubt they will do their best in helping me achieve my goals.

The physios and staff at Birkdale guided me through a horrendous and traumatic time with care & kindness, true empathy, honesty and professionalism. They continue to give a first class programme of treatment to me which has helped enormously in my ongoing rehabilitation and recovery. After my brain haemorrhage and stroke I had reduced feeling and movement on my left hand side and balance issues. This meant I couldn’t walk and was consigned to a wheelchair. My NHS support ended after 3 months which left me no option but to find an alternative neurophysio. I have been going to Birkdale now for over a year and I’m absolutely delighted with them, especially my physio Aga. They are very friendly and supportive and always greet you with a smile. As for physio, they are not afraid to try new techniques to aid in your recovery. Which means they use different kinds of gym equipment and computer software to pinpoint certain aspects of your individual requirements. With Birkdale’s experience and professionalism in the area of neuro injury recovery I am now able to try walking without an aid - which I honestly felt I would never be able to do. I always look forward to my physio sessions and feel elated by the end of the session. In summary, what Birkdale has done for me is give me confidence and hope for the future.

Farshideh and the team are fantastic! I had a TBI in 2016 and still had ongoing problems and Farshideh was so incredibly helpful and thoughtful. She noticed things other practitioners ignored or didn’t see. Great progress! And love her approach to reintroducing things into my life.

We have been taking our 2.5 year old daugther to Birkdale for 3 months now and the improvements we are seeing are amazing. Our daughter has a rare genetic condition but that didn't stop Farshideh from digging in, doing the research and devising a bespoke plan for her based on her vast knowledge and unique approach. I highly recommend Farshideh and her team to any parent who is seeking an effective physio/PT treatment for their baby/child.
