I called J&P and was met with a very professional and well-mannered person who organised an engineer to come out and view my boiler fault. He gave me an estimate straight away, it was agreed and the boiler was replaced that same day. The process did not cause us any inconvenience and the engineer kept the work area clean from mess and handed over a perfect working boiler. I will definitely be using J&P again in the future for any work I have.
He was also polite, knowledgeable and respectful in our home, something we greatly appreciated. Would recommended as a first port of call for anyone that needs boiler service/renewal.
Firstly they strongly recommended that they supply us with a boiler. It was not fitted properly and as a leaky pipe almost flooded our kitchen. Owing to our bad experience with J&P we used Pimlico Plumbers to fix it who were amazing. The plumber from Pimlico was astounded by the size of the boiler they had installed, citing that it was not at all fit for purpose. It was suitable for a large house and not a 1 bathroom flat. As a result it loses pressure on a regular basis. Something we cannot rectify without replacing it. In hindsight we could see that this boiler was not new and had clearly been a misorder from another job which had been passed on to us even though it was completely wrong for our flat.
Secondly when fitting the bathroom they came in for a few hours on the first day to lay some pipes and promised us that they would complete the work within the week however, despite constant chasing up we did not see them for a almost 3 weeks following their first visit. It took almost a month for them to do a relatively simple plumbing job and, perhaps slightly naively we were locked in to using them as we had paid quite a bit up front and they wouldn’t provide us with a boiler commissioning certificate until they had finished the bathroom. It was an incredibly difficult time for both myself and my wife as we had to go to friends houses to use their showers.
Despite our grievances the owner of the company was increasingly unsympathetic and defensive owing to the fact he did not want to compensate us. Having to call out Pimlico Plumbers to fix their mistakes made the job incredibly expensive and we are still paying for it.
Please don’t make the same mistake. They should not be trusted.
Also worth noting that they have a history of using multiple company names and multiple websites, presumably to disguise the trail of damage they leave.
Boiler gave an error message, which of course happened during a rather cold night. I decided to call a plumber and found J and P online.
Got charged £95 for the call and the time, which seems reasonable since it was same day appointment. However, not only nothing was fixed, I was then told that the boiler was 'old' (mind you, less than 10 yr old), and it needed at least 3 parts replaced for a total cost of £800. Was also suggested to buy a new boiler for £1800.
Decided to get a second opinion.
A British Gas technician fixed my boiler in less than an hour today. He found that one of the key cables (for the boiler to work) was left unplugged behind the (screwed-in) panel. Also the fan was dirty and needed a wash.
Problem solved and boiler is working again.
