The staff here are super friendly and always go above and beyond for their customers.
They worked so hard throughout lockdown sourcing all the essentials you couldn’t even get in the big supermarkets. They ensured there was always fresh stock and a good choice of produce making life during that time a lot less stressful.
I can’t recommend their service enough. Worth a visit as you won’t be disappointed.
When I asked the price of the ice creams He told me to touch them (in the middle of a pandemic) and bring them to the counter to be scanned as he was unable to tell me the price and no price was displayed.
When I asked why no price was displayed he told me it was a new fridge. I went to collect the ice creams and return them to the counter to check the price only to discover that they had melted and subsequently been re-frozen.
I and very disappointed that not only do the staff not realise that minimal touching of things you don’t buy is vital to prevent the spread of the virus but that re-freezing melted ice cream is a major health and safety issue.
Great range of produce from fruit and veg to the meat from Bridget B's and love the huge selection of American sweets, snacks and drinks.
Definitely recommend!!
The store itself is very well laid out, it has a great selection and some great offers on your regular groceries. The store also has a great selection of Drink, decent on-the-go coffee, handmade sandwiches and rolls and even Vape e-liquid juice.
Plus it has a post-office with good opening hours.
Overall this is a great shop for such a tiny village. If you're passing through Walkern it's well worth a visit. 5*
Edit. Not sure why, but the post office (even before it was a Budgens) has always made things difficult in ways that other small shops/ post offices don't. They will not let you leave a pre-paid parcel when the post office is closed, but the shop is open. Even though I never require a receipt there's just no place to leave the parcels. unfortunately there's no parcel drop box in the village either.
Another small gripe, the shop will not sell stamps when the post-office is closed. Even though there are some behind the counter.
