Hockwell Ring Post Office

I have used this a few times since moving to Luton a year ago. It has a grocery area which is fairly well stocked in competition with other grocery shops along the same parade of shops. I always find the staff very friendly and helpful especially in finding out about local knowledge for places and amenities. There are limited postal items for sale such as wrapping paper, boxes, cards and gifts but its a bit cramped. Early opening time and a few parking places makes it very convenient to pop in on the way to/from work to pick up parcels delivered by some retailers.

Went with relations to collect ID cards, arrived Sunday 11am, post office counter closed( advertised as open 6am to 6pm) however shopkeeper offered to phone and get someone to come in and they arrived after 45 mins. Considering we had traveled a long distance was glad they opened but definitely need to advertise real opening times for ID collection. Shop covers basic posting items but not more complex arrangements. Ring to check first!

I ship loads of packages here every week and the staff are great. Always friendly and helpful.
It’s very useful that the shop side accepts packages, too, giving me the chance to ship things outside of normal Post Office hours. Granted, not all Post Office services can be done on that side, but it’s been a lifesaver on days when I can’t get everything packed before 5.30pm. It’s also the only place you can withdraw cash for free along this strip of shops, so that’s a huge plus.

In the post office the lady that i have been served three times was extremely rude. Also, inside the post office there is a corner shop, there is a lady she is very very rude too. She treats customers differently, when she feels a bit 'scared' or 'intimidated', with certain customers her tone of voice and way of communicating to them will be different; but with normal customers, she will just randomly give attitude and talk to them disreseptfully. This shouldn't be happening at all, because her job is to treat every customer in a polite manner and treat them equally. Overall, these stuff do not have no understanding of basic respect and customer service. I advice them to quit working from here.

0 stars if I could. There is one particular staff member who is consistently rude, however today she took it to the extreme. Came to collect a parcel, and couldn’t find the barcode and she just grabbed my phone out of my hand to look for it. When she couldn’t find it, I politely asked what number she was looking for and she continued to give me attitude, I asked for her name to speak to a manager. She proceeded to shout at me in front of all the other customers and refused to lower her voice and give me my parcel. She absolutely should not be working there and as I didn’t get my parcel, if I don’t not get refund on my parcel I will be taking this further

As I always tell the staff and posted couple of times. This is the best go to place if you want your post office work done ASAP

1 ⭐ the receipt my grandma got had no reference number, it doesn't matter if I want to track it or not my mum needs a reference number and I don't have it meaning she can't get it :/ also the insurance is mad expensive there too

Very well stocked stationary stock and very helpful staff when I asked about getting a new driving license. The lady kindly showed me what to do and how to face the camera in the photo booth. They were even able to help me pay in a cheque at a completely different bank. Top work and great staff! Well done!
