Thomas's Academy

We have two kids at Thomas’s Academy - one in reception and one in Year 6. We are very happy with the school and most importantly our children are very happy here. Great ethos and values. We love the approach to ‘teach children to learn’. I think it sets good habits and teaches children to do their research rather than just memorise information. Teachers and all the staff are really great. Parents often get involved in school activities and there definitely is a sense of a lovely community.

This school is on track for achieving Ofstead Outstanding rating at the next review. We've joint the school 3 years ago, initially attending nursery and carrying on into primary, and feel very lucky to have been part of such a great community.

What sets this school apart is the global approach to learning and the culture of inclusion. The teachers are incredibly supportive, and school staff work very closely with PTA to continue to improve student experience. The school has coped very well with the evolving Covid requirements and has communicated clearly and openly on regular basis.

We highly recommend joining.

We know Thomas Academy for a while as I was bringing my soon to an "stay and play"session the children center runs in their community classroom.The feeling coming there was so good I decided almost straight away that this will be the school my son would attend.When we had the school tour I found that the headteacher was really warm and caring and the atmosphere we encounter visiting every classroom made me even more sure about my decision.My son started nursery this year in a full time basis for the first time in his life.He has always been with me 24/7 and he isnt the most social boy.I was a bit worried of how he will take it but the teachers are amazing,they were really respectful and patient with every child that arrived,respecting their times and personalities.In a really short time I could see how my son developed his communication skills,and most imporantly his independence using the toilet!and thanks to Tapestry I can see the things my son is doing there,wich leaves me speechless and full of pride!
Another positive points the school has under my view is that they have a kitchen and they cook fresh meals from scratch.The school is really clean and tidy.It seems they have good resources,and right now I see they are really carefull with social distancing every year group,dividing the playground etc,and are always looking into solutions to be even safer,starting with making sure that everyone that comes into school wears a mask.I couldnt recommend the school enough!

Amazing, inclusive, friendly school! We moved here from Australia 8 months and the school has been so welcoming to our three children. They have all progressed academically as well. Very happy!

ABOVE & BEYOND, ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING
The culture at this school is extraordinary, I hear stories from other parents all the time of out of the blue totally above and beyond acts of kindness or inspiration. The heads are clearly incredible people choosers and know how to lead a united and dedicated team. The vibe there is really ambitious, you can feel they are always striving, prodding checking for better ways to inspire and bring up our children. I speak for every parent there I know in this review.
