As a pupil from 1936-40 it was as a junior. The headmistress was Miss Yoemans, and during the spring/summer, some classes were in big 'tents' at the rear of the school buildings. After 1939 there was an air raid shelter built of brick, and when the Air Raid siren went, we spent our time in the shelter - and as 'therapy' even us boys were given the task of knitting!! until the All Clear siren sounded. I re-visited the school in 1997, and apart from there no longer being the classroom tents, it seemd that time had stood still. It is that kind of school, and it felt great just to be there again after such a long time.
